I think they shoot every bit as well as the best steel barrels. About the same weight as a #3 steel contour, but stiffer and have less dispersion across a full ladder test. Once a node is found with either, it is a toss up. There are circumstances that might be better off with steel though. Like a rifle that gets shot a lot in a cartridge known for low round count life. Like a 28 Nosler for example. With a barrel life of 500-800 rounds, I would opt for steel for replacement price alone.

Sandhill cranes are not "waterfowl". Lead is acceptable. But if you are hunting ducks/geese at the same time, gotta go lead-free.

I have 5 Proof Research carbon fiber barreled customs. Planning #6 now. I too, cannot see myself going back to a steel barrel for a hunting rifle at this point.

A 3 generation hunt? That…..is totally awesome! I wish my dad could tag along on a future hunt. I miss hunting with him. I just don't think he could handle a 13 day trip in the cold any more. Great buck. You know, I really like the way that buck flip-flops from side to side. Right has huge fronts, left has huge backs. That is really cool.

I run a 24" AR. But....I have never shot a coyote with it that a 16.5" carbine couldn't have.

I know of some BRUTES from the late strip hunt. And one was by a lady that is just unbelievable. But not a Kaibab hunt. I know 5 other people who were on the 12AE or 12AW late hunts that all killed too. Good bucks, a couple over the magic 180", one of them pushing 190". Still waiting on a photo from AZKiller for a buck he was chasing, and tried to get us on, that was reportedly killed. Here is Taylor's buck again. STILL in disbelief at how fast it happened.
