In my opinion, the amount of snow up top right now, if any, won't push an elk down. Get far from roads. A quad is going to be very cold to ride starting next week, when the temps start to plummet.

The Berger target line are not closed meplat bullets. They are still an open hollow point. But, sometimes they can get clogged with either a bit of lead, or polishing compound. So do the hunting line. Some of the Sierra line have a pointed HP design however. 6mm 110 SMK, 6.5mm 142 & 150 SMK, 7mm 183 & 197 SMK, .308 210 & 230 SMK, etc.

Is this a contradiction? The Berger link you imbedded is not necessarily the best source. It basically says "If you suck at shooting and can't hit where you need to, the Hunting bullet version might help you out a bit more as the bullet grenades inside a bit better than the target version, maybe catching some vitals.". ☺️ Don't get me wrong. I mostly hunt with Berger bullets too.
