No annual pass any more. Been going there for years. There have definitely been some less than friendly RSOs, but most are great.

I have a buddy who should be getting one of the first runs. Can't wait to hear his opinion on it. He has/had other good glass to compare to as well. The 2.5-20x50 is a really appealing hunting optic for the sub-$2000 range if it has decent glass and good mechanics. "Decent glass" is subjective. I am sure it will be DECENT. For $2k, it better be. But, I am not a real fan of the NXS glass. Even some ATACR glass is not what I call "alpha level". The ATACR F1 seems to be a big step up from the many NXS/ATACR scopes I have shot behind. If it is better than NXS, these should be a huge success.

I FL size every rifle, and every time I load brass. I only neck sized once....by accident. I purchased a set of Redding 6CM FL dies with bushing FL, and micrometer seating die. Never even checked the dies. Got 300 pieces of Lapua 6.5CM brass and ran them through to neck size (before Lapua 6CM was available). After shooting them, ran them through the FL die and bumped shoulders .0015". I did a huge no-no at this point. Loaded them up without checking fit of resized brass in the rifle. Did 250 pieces like this. Well, I took 50 of the FL sized brass and decided to try some 115 Bergers in the rifle. Seated one long to check CBTO to lands, and bolt was very stiff to close. I figured bullet must be jammed hard into the lands. Opened the bolt, and the brass had a nice shiny ring around the body just below the shoulder. Measured the area on the FL sized brass, a piece of fired, and a virgin brass..... FL sized .463" Fired .463" Virgin .4615" WTH? Checked the dies.....my "FL" die is stamped "neck". Argh! Bought a new body die and a new FL die. Ran the loaded rounds through the body die. .4615". Smooth like butter. Moral of the story (X2, maybe 3): 1. Check your sized brass in your rifle before you load it. I have never, EVER, done this before. Don't rush the process. Double check everything. 2. Check your dies. Manufacturers can make mistakes. 3. Don't neck size.

Does anyone in town have one of these? I am on the fence about buying one for my new build, but not sure it will fit. Going on a Lone Peak Fuzion TI SA with 2 piece integrated rail. I have another one that I can test fit it on. Has to be in rings, not a Spuhr type 1 piece mount. I will bring the tools to retorque after the test fit. Should take 10 minutes or less.

Need some side by sides, but here it is mounted up. Not the rifle it will stay on, but same action and barrel. Close fit for sure. Compared to a 3-20×50 Ultra Short

Getting ready to rebuild Taylor's favorite rifle after 2300+ rounds. The 6.5SLR. I have about 430 pieces of brass already fire formed, so sticking with that cartridge. Sending 2 pcs of fired brass, 2 loaded rounds, and a resized case with 140 HVLD seated to max mag length to help in chambering the new barrel to exactly the same dimensions. New Manners PRS2 w. Gen 2 mini chassis & AI mags 22" 1:8" Proof Sendero Light Area 419 Hellfire brake R700SA will be reused with some PT&G bolt upgrades (spiral fluting/skeltonizing handle by LRI, Inc. and alloy shroud, carbon fiber knob) Cerakote in H-series Copper Brown Swapped the Kahles K624i for a S&B PMII 3-20×50 Ultra Short already. Dropping everything off at Phoenix Custom Rifles tomorrow. Hopefully have it back in a month or so to start load development. I hope to lose about 4lbs off the rifle, and make it a little more compact to carry. Losing 6" of Rem Sendero contour steel barrel length should really help in both areas.

Gathering parts for a new build (again). AxisWorks will be building it. Eric and I have already had some discussions about it. So far, I have ordered: Lone Peak Fusion TI SA w. standard .473" bolt face & nitride bolt (Titanium action weight is 23oz w. steel bolt) 4 weeks out Manner PRS2 stock in Tac Swamp w. M-5 DBM inlet for Proof Research 1.200" Sendero contour (weight should be right about 38-39oz) 4-6 weeks out. It was a flat top in stock, which should help speed up turnaround time. Getting prices on a Proof Research 6mm/.243" 1:7.5" twist @ 22-24" (42-43oz after chambering) Going to run an AxisWorks DBM set up and AI mags (10-12oz?) Probably a Trigger Tech Diamond trigger (5-6oz?) March F1 3-24x52 FML-1 (unless they finally come out with a better reticle) (24.5oz) APA Little Bastard brake (4oz) Probably swap out the bolt handle for a CF one like on my .280AI (1oz savings, but more for looks) Seekins 30mm medium (.87") rings (7-8oz) FlatlineOps level (2oz) Total weight goal: Right around 10lbs all in (unloaded) looking at these conservative numbers. Will be chambered in something like 6x47L, 6XC, 6CM, etc. I want to try and push a 105 around 3000-3100. Went today to fine tune charge weight at 200 again. Think I am pretty much done. Just need to get Taylor on a pronghorn in August now. 3 shots, 130 Hybrid OTM, 200 yards, 2868fps Need to load some up, adjust zero by .1MIL R, and go stretch it's legs.

Yes, it is shorter and also lighter by a few ounces. Once my rings get here on Monday, I will mount it up on my 6CM which is the same action as my new one I am building. I will take some side by sides next to my 3-20US.

Swapped over to a 130 Hybrid. And the rifle LOVES them! These were at 200 yards last weekend during testing.

Well, I pulled the trigger on it. Got it last night, rings should be here Monday. It should fit just fine though.

Winds were 20-25mph on Friday when we were out there.

I was 3 miles from the front on Friday at a radio site we built for MCSO. Got chased out by hot shot crews at 9:00am. It is right at the top of Fish Creek Hill.
