    Barnes LRX bullets?

Terrible BC. Flies decent. Hammers on game. I used Barnes TTSX on a muley at 488 yards out of my .25-06 Ackley, complete pass through quartering on and the deer never took a single step. I had a good load worked up for my .300RUM in a 175 LRX but never used them on game. Flew pretty darn good though. Sub MOA. I bet the 6.5mm 127 LRX would be great on game, but make sure to keep them above the minimum 1600fps. So maybe out to 700 yards or so. Kinetic energy will be good out to 600 or so to retain 1000ft/lbs. depending on your velocity.

    ring height

I use the lowest rings I can get on my rifles. Even with a 20MOA base and 56mm objective on a 34mm tube, medium rings (.92") clear just fine on mine with a Sendero contour barrel. Plenty of clearance for scope caps too. I wish I could find low rings in my flavor. I have no problems dialing out to 19.5 mils and holding another 2 mils for 1770 yards.

    Bitter/Sweet Fathers day

Prayers sent to all, for comfort in the loss of a child, and thanksgiving to those who get to spend more time with cherished loved ones. We will meet them again someday. Rest assured they will be waiting for us at Heaven's Gates with open arms and great stories and memories.

    My future hunting partner...

Daughters ROCK! You are in for the ride of your life. Enjoy every minute of it, because you will turn around and they are getting married themselves.
  6. I am glad I get up at 3:30AM every day and am gone by 4:00. My wife called me this morning at 6:00AM (on her day off) and said the pups were raring to go at 5:00AM. Good training for my kid though, who has already gotten into her "summer schedule" of staying up until 2:00AM and sleeping until 10:00AM. They figured out the dog door in about 24 hours, even though they really have to work at it to get in and out, as the door is set up for the big boys to clear their backs. It starts about 10" off the floor, so they have to stand up on their hind legs, hook their front paws, and pull themselves though. They are about 90% house broken already too. They go out by themselves to use the facilities and back in. We just have to keep an eye on them when they are outside, because we have a family of five Harris Hawks that live in our front tree and hunt all around. Not sure if they would, but I think they definitely could take one of the pups home for lunch. The pups are a lot slower than the rabbits around my house. And I know the hawks get cats, because I have had numerous kitty legs in my front yard. I think we misnamed them though. We should have named them Yin and Yang. Asleep at my feet at my bar.
  7. A little introduction to dove. Gotta love the Eurasion invasion sometimes. Year round dove training/hunting. They need to learn the "soft mouth" though. They just don't want to let go yet. I think Terry might have slipped some Pitbull in the mix....

    nature hits the city

A well earned venison dinner awaits that bear. But if it were bear season......an 85 grain broadhead atop a 400 grain arrow at 275fps would have saved Bambi's life.

Calibration Defense| Anybody ever try it?

I am not sure where you see someone questioning your manhood or flaming you. I certainly wasn't. I agree with it being nearly impossible to go even a single day without some type of infraction of a law. The right for a trial is certainly an option. But I don't think this is a 6th issue with the admittance of guilt. I also don't know what your fine is, but if you were over 15mph above the speed limit when he clocked you, I would think a fine might be pretty hefty, but not excessive, making it an 8th amendment issue. We only have a few facts on the situation from your side of the story, so it is up to those of us who read the thread to fill in the blanks, even if it is incorrectly done so. We also might not agree on the course of action, but I definitely agree you have a right to do so. I am not going to change your mind, and you won't change mine, but if we ever meet up face to face, I will bend over backwards helping you out if you need it.

    Fiber optic sights

I just head to my local archery store and buy a few different colors (yellow/green/red) and put in whichever comes next in the pattern. I don't even know what brand they are.

    Fiber optic sights

Lighter. Heat it up slightly and push it on a flat hard object. Just buy it long enough to give it a couple tries to get it the correct diameter. I have done it quite a few times. Takes about 10 seconds once you get it through the pin.

Seeing that it is coming from Kommiefornia, I bet they are banned from including the blades, or the handle has been modified so you have to use two hands and you need a special permit (issued by the FBI) to carry one in the field, maybe the locking mechanism has been removed due to a lawsuit and Supreme Court decision, or the sheath has been modified to only hold one extra blade, possibly the rubber grip has been found to cause birth defect in baby sea otters....... Other than that, they are great knives, and that is a good price.

Calibration Defense| Anybody ever try it?

If you really think about how many laws did you break going to work this morning. Maybe you took a little longer to put your seat belt on and drove down the road a bit with out it. Then you exceeded the speed limit slightly to stay with traffic. Or you changed lanes without using a blinker. All Violations. the intent of a fine is to make sure that you recognize the results of your actions and not do them again. Not to fund a new fleet of vehicles, if the punishment fit the crime and did not fund the exaggerated luxuries of today's government than I would happily pay it. These days though the only one with excess money is government and I will not give them more than I have to. Of course I will not intentionally speed and no fine will change that. With all that being said if you represent government you should do it with pride and follow the procedures placed in front of you. My ticket looked like it was written by a fifth grader just learning cursive and my original court date was set for Memorial Day. I am expected to follow the rules and procedures of society so should the people enforcing those rules. This post might not go over very well, but here it goes.... I always put my seatbelt on before I even put any vehicle in gear. I was 5 mph over the limit, getting passed by just about everyone. I cannot afford to get a ticket in my work vehicle. My job depends on driving. I don't think I changed lanes without signaling, but it is definitely a possibility. But what do any of those questions have to do with you speeding and getting caught though? Just because 95% of everyone does it, that still does not make it legal. You broke a law and got caught. If I got caught speeding, it would be my responsibility, even if I was 5 MPH over and people passing me were 20 MPH over. What does your getting caught speeding have to do with the budget of your local LEOs? Don't blame their budget on your speeding and getting caught. You state a fine is to teach a lesson, and it does not sound like you have learned one in this instance. So what if the LEO had bad hand writing? Again, how does that change any of the facts? And as for the "calibration defense", are you sure it was not a "certification" date on the radar gun? The calibration certification date is placed on the radar gun once a year. I have a lot of equipment that needs annual certification to ensure it is still within spec. Good for a calendar year from that date, but I still need to check calibration it each time I use it. But the date on the machine doesn't get changed every day.

I am on the fence on this one. If you were braking, the cop could have given you a warning depending on how far past the sign you were and how hard you were trying to brake. On the other hand, you WERE admittedly speeding, and therefore know you were in the wrong. If the cop wasn't there, how hard would you have been braking? No reason to fight the ticket if you know you were in the wrong. You got caught, so pay the price. This is one of the reasons why court costs are high. People who are knowingly in the wrong trying to avoid blame. The cop was doing his job. A technicality should not discount that fact.
