The owner of Denny's was dealing with a lot 6 or 7 years ago, ranging from deaths in the immediate family to having to fire his #2 man. Everything is cleared up and the owner/manager is a very good man, hunter and at one time, outfitter.

    New mexico hog hunt

That was a pretty good read. I would love to go in on a hog hunt anywhere.here or NM. I keep hearing these stories and seeing a few pictures of hogs people claim are here but wonder how much truth goes in to some of these stories. Not accusing anyone of false reporting, just saying. TJ I'm thinking if I wanted to bust some bacon, I'd head to Quay county and offer some farmers my services.

Well that'll get this thread relegated to the dungeon. Not to mention an image I'll have to live with forever.

    One Sided Rack

My dad told me a story about shooting a one horned buck in a forked horn or better season. Said a game warden watched him take the shot and they both saw the buck tumble down a steep hill. When they got to the buck, his one rack had been torn off in the tumble. Warden said he was going to write dad up for killing an illegal buck unless that forked horn was found. Warden field dressed the buck while pop climbed up and down the hill, horn hunting. Eventually found it and the warden helped carry the buck towards the logging road. Afterwards, dad asked the warden if he was really going to write him up with out that antler. Warden just grinned.

    Alone II

When I was hunting and fishing the NW forests near Vancouver Island, one of my mental backups was always wearing good water proof boots and having a spare dry pair of socks. Keep your head and feet dry and you're good to go. Having these contestants placed next to the ocean gives them an incredible advantage. You can build fishtraps and crab cages out of twigs for crying out loud. Kelp to salmon, it's all good. Warm dry place like the guy last season built, all that's left is the mental toughness. $500,000 before taxes is a lot of incentive to not pus out.

I nominate Obama for the $3 dollar bill. To make it epic, put a portrait of the elusive Arizona feral pig on the back

Obama will learn all this from the news, and then blame Bush.

    Lion darted in Wittman

According to the news, this young female lion was released "On public lands just nw of where she was captured." That's gmu 42. Curious, unit 42 has enough lions in them and the deer and bighorn numbers are so low, you have daylong shooting rules in play. Shoot up to 3 lions here and neighboring units, even at night and you can still carry a lion tag the rest of the year. Mulie numbers so low much of the archery hunt has been eliminated.

    Eagles on the Salt

Yup, they were thicker than seagulls at Dutch. At the end of the fishing season, all hands were on deck removing any morsels from the fishing nets so the eagles wouldn't chew thru the netting.

I see the freedom birds all over the north end of Lake Pleasant, from Castle Creek to the Agua Fria. Was riding my pony up Castle Creek several Memorial Days ago when I got this one to strike a pose.

    One Sided Rack

Last January I hiked down a trail predawn where I could glass a good area and where I had seen two lions the evening before. Was almost lite when I got under the juniper. Leaned my bow against the tree while setting up my stool. Started glassing the hill in front of me when I noticed something fuzzy moving at the bottom of my view. A nice 4 point mulie was browsing by not 45 yards broadside in front of me. Release still in my pocket, bow leaning against a tree. By the time I was set up for a shot, he was now 100 yards and cresting a brushy hill. I pursued him but no shot. Lesson learned. PS glassing up the lions nite before at a couple hundred yards, it was archery season but my .243 was in the truck about 50' behind me. Brought it along just in case. Geez.
