According to the news, this young female lion was released "On public lands just nw of where she was captured." That's gmu 42. Curious, unit 42 has enough lions in them and the deer and bighorn numbers are so low, you have daylong shooting rules in play. Shoot up to 3 lions here and neighboring units, even at night and you can still carry a lion tag the rest of the year. Mulie numbers so low much of the archery hunt has been eliminated.

Young lion crashed last night in the front yard of a Wittman residence... http://www.wsmv.com/story/31747792/a-mountain-lion-spotted-in-a-wittmann-neighborhood

Yup, they were thicker than seagulls at Dutch. At the end of the fishing season, all hands were on deck removing any morsels from the fishing nets so the eagles wouldn't chew thru the netting.

I see the freedom birds all over the north end of Lake Pleasant, from Castle Creek to the Agua Fria. Was riding my pony up Castle Creek several Memorial Days ago when I got this one to strike a pose.

So true. Important to have a comfortable one.

Last January I hiked down a trail predawn where I could glass a good area and where I had seen two lions the evening before. Was almost lite when I got under the juniper. Leaned my bow against the tree while setting up my stool. Started glassing the hill in front of me when I noticed something fuzzy moving at the bottom of my view. A nice 4 point mulie was browsing by not 45 yards broadside in front of me. Release still in my pocket, bow leaning against a tree. By the time I was set up for a shot, he was now 100 yards and cresting a brushy hill. I pursued him but no shot. Lesson learned. PS glassing up the lions nite before at a couple hundred yards, it was archery season but my .243 was in the truck about 50' behind me. Brought it along just in case. Geez.

I know big cats don't do well under anesthesia (just ask Macho B ). The cat was fitted with a GPS collar, tough to do while the cat is conscious. Hope AZGFD releases the cat in a Nogales drug tunnel.

Had I been drawn, it's always old school for me. 65 year old Remington Gamemaster in .06, 4X Weaver tube.(below) Previous elk slayer was sporterized 1917 in .300 H.H. If I ever have a crisis, Biglakejake gets first crack at this rifle lol.

Really? Maybe you should head up the 7/08 frivolous lawsuit fund so Lark can sue Amanda for an April Fools joke. Step down from the altar.
