thinking its "funny" to kill a deer

I downed a cow elk in 27 decades ago. My dad pushed a small herd thru the brush at me and next thing I know I was in the middle of a stampede. Wheeled around and shot a departing elk in the behind, the bullet travelled along under her spine so she didn't die instantly. When I got to her, she laid looking towards her departed herd while crying, sounded a lot like a human baby. Pointed my rifle at her head and dad said don't shoot, she'll be dead soon. I disobeyed and ended her suffering Will carry that image and sounds with me the rest of my life.

    OK, who does this?

It's common to see rigs belonging to others at trail heads. But if I see hunters where I'm hunting, I didn't go far enough. Almost 40 years ago, some yahoos got into a squabble with me in 27 over a buck I downed. They claimed to have shot it same time as I, then said they had been trailing it...whatever. I was determined to get away from the crowds About a week ago, I had a dream where my pack horse was shot by a deer hunter. So MULEPACKHUNTER comes by the other day and we chart out where we are going, he knows 22 and gives me about a 99% probability of not seeing another soul. But to those of you whom cannot get far back into the sticks, you can use the other energetic bushwackers to your advantage and let them drive the deer to you. Hunt smarter.

  10. Atmosphere variants certainly make a difference. When I worked in aviation meteorology, we continuously recalculated an aerodynamic value called Pressure Altitude. Barometric pressure, temperature, humidity all have a direct impact on flight characteristics.

    Guides-and using them

For the purpose of conversation, lets separate guides from outfitters; something AZGFD can't seem to do. I've often asked myself the same question, 'Beardown,' But I can easily answer my own question. Were I drawn for bighorn, I think I might hire one. I have been spending countless hours in bighorn country last several months, pursuing lion , I see the sheep tracks, scat but not them. Also if I had a buttload of dough and anxious for a lion, I'd hire a friend and neighbor who's a houndsman.

I was just wondering the same thing. Last I heard, g/f was cutting way back on their news conferences on this.

    Trail Horse $2200

Short answer is yes. To her, getting her feet trimmed is like a lady going to the day spa, loves having her nails done. I boot up her front toesies for rides and leave her backs au natural. She's never had shoes.

    Trail Horse $2200

Zazzy is 4-5 year old grade sorrel filly, about 14.2hh. She is being trail ridden 4-5 days a week and introduced to barrels and poles the other days, she keeps a full calendar, loves chasing and cutting steers. She will go down the trail alone or in groups of any size. Wildlife along the trail does not phase this mare. Once a rider mounts, she is cool, collected and focused like a laser beam. We've owned and worked with this horse a year, she has no issues or vices, smart and anxious to please. Loads, stands quiet, good with feet She's a smaller mare suitable to youths or smaller adults. Were she built to carry our demanding loads, she absolutely would not be for sale. I've owned a lot of horses, animals of this filly's caliber are rare and won't come along often.... Partial trades for hunting gear possible, come and throw a leg over her. 623 707-3420

    Trail Horse $2200

Yup, Mike I think she's going packing. This mare's training is well rounded and next month the price is $2500 and climbing. And she easily fits into overhead storage compartments, too.

National Guard - anyone have any experience?

The guard is a great opportunity and he should be able to transition into the army easily and perhaps earlier than he is being told. Go for the commissioned status. What a difference in pay and respect you receive. As far as my experience with the guard, deployed os with a group out of Ohio. These guys were undisciplined, drug addled and hazardous to be near. An accident while airbourne with them nearly left me blind. Almost a quarter of them were sent back to the states for drug use. I have faith AZ's Guard units are far more disciplined and professional. Two of my kids were USMC recruiters after combat tours. Their mission was to provide warm bodies to the induction centers.

Best respond soon, 'runningfool.' When MULEPACKHUNTER gets upset, his mules cry and sets in motion an irreversible sense of foreboding for all within earshot..

    coues wilderness jan hunt

Thanks, Flatlander. Pendleton OR never occurred to me due to our kids in the Marines. If I offer to pack a camp in, I'll follow thru. When he sees pics of the horse camp we'll have setup in this Nov for MULEPACKHUNTER and madx250's Coues hunt, he won't be able to sleep nights. I'm feeding a string of good trail horses that need riding. Anyone that wants to see some outback country, just pm.

I pack into 24B, and the Eagletail Wilderness areas most Januarys. But am familiar with Hells Gate, Hummingbird and Harquahala Wilderness areas too. Bring a rifle and lion tag, too. Be happy to pack in a camp and show you these spots. Some of these Wilderness areas are only a couple hours drive from Pendleton. PS many of these wilderness units I mentioned .have no Coues but do have mulies, there are plenty of wilderness areas in the state that do have Coues, not a problem.

    Trail Horse $2200

Thanks Dwayne, you're familiar with this horse. She won't last long, already getting calls. Did I mention she does rollbacks and sliding stops, too. May take her hunting in the weeks ahead, just to expose her to gunfire and hopefully packing meat. Her price is going up in the weeks ahead.

    unwelcomed visit

A certain horse whisperer on this board asked to borrow a trailer. Figured it should be serviced first, knew a guy who could do that. Got late before I got around to it and just as I started the passenger side, had a visitor show up behind me and threaten one of the hounds nearby. I like snakes but this one came straight at me then thought it would head towards the shop. Sorry, can't have that. Shop is cluttered and dangerous enough as is.
