    Reindeer

While there are different subspecies of caribou, I've heard the difference between caribou and reindeer is, a reindeer is a domesticated caribou.

    Reindeer

No, I was too stupid while in the military, was offered orders to King Salmon and while thinking about it, someone else snatched them. But I did land in Shemya, AFB once. I worked the fisheries up there from 1997-2000, 3 snow crab, I herring, 1 pollock and a salmon season on catchers and tenders. You see unbelievable things up there you'll never forget; ie, wildlife, desolate ice flows, glow in the dark algae, watched a Fijian deckhand turn a live octopus inside out and eat its hearts while they were still beating. You don't see that everyday in AZ. . Have you taken in the northern light show?

    Reindeer

Great pics, but I don't miss being there much. Fished for herring there and crab in the Pribilofs I worked at St Michaels and in the Pribilof Islands 15 years ago. The reindeer were probably put on the island by Russian meat traders 200 years ago, they did so on the Pribilofs just below St Michaels . They also put foxes on the islands for the fur trades and the foxes did a lot of damage to the seal rookeries. The domestic foxes are white or a blue/black. The reds are wild, artic fox are white. Once while trying to land at St Paul, the runway was littered with reindeer and flight operations personal had to go out and chase them from the flight way. One of the crewman on my boat at St George was a native and shot a reindeer on St Paul. Good eatin. I brought the rack all the way back to Tucson and gave it to my dad. I still cant believe he cut them up for arts and crafts.

    pack goats

Interesting stuff. I can certainly see advantages goats have over pack horses and vice versa. Humping it up and over the Mogollon Rim with 2 1/4 tons of horse flesh isn't cheap. And goats can eat a lot of things along a trail you wouldn't want your horse eating. The myotonic episodes in fainting goats is similar to HYPP mutations in horses carrying the gene. What kind of lead works best? I've seen them goats chew thru nylon in no time.

    Firewood for sale

Got firewood. If you need some, holler. Selling seasoned mixed and/or citrus wood. Also have some larger citrus pieces that will burn for hours on the campfire, cheap. Citrus burns hot with very little smoke, so great for camping. Great in the smoker, too with fish and poultry. Come by for a wheelbarrow loads or have full or partial cords delivered. Pm me with what you need.

    pack goats

The goat learning curve is a steep one, GotBowAz gives good advice. At one point I raised sheep in NM, an old farmer convinced me to always have a goat in with them, for some reason, sheep follow goats like the pied piper. And also, predators and dogs tend to take out the goat first in a herd. Bang on a metal bucket before you feed them goats, if ever they get loose they'll come to that sound.. I've never packed with them, but they are climbing machines. Wonder what their weight to pack weight ratio is? Have fun, spend lots of time with them.

    the rain is here

Your right Prdtr, my bad. I pushed the wong key. Speed of sound varies greatly in a gas medium due to temp and humidity changes.

Haha no hurt feelings here, why would you say that? Want to report something suspicious go right ahead, that's what hotlines are for. Interesting and fun how Maverick's story morphed and morphed. If you see me bear hunting with a doughnut in my mouth, please talk to me first before alerting the authorities, LOL And by the way, the Mav said the offender was a CWT member. Lets have a chat with that mysterious man, he's got some explaining to do. Wonder if Maverick said something to the bad boy? I'm sure we'll find out, stay tuned.

    Border units

I've pushed cattle thru there, Dan. Lot of nice bucks in there. A friend of mine lives in those ranchettes on the south side of the 10, his wife feeds the deer. But then, I've seen plenty of deer in your neighborhood, too .
