    No Guide Fees

Thanks for the clarification. Neat idea for sure. Love it when people come out and explain things and reach out to the community they are tailoring to. I hope it works out well and drums up business for your team and Arizona as a whole. Money into our economy is always welcome :-D

    Super deal on Bushnell 10x42's(Amazon)

The legend ultra HDs 10x went for like 110$ last year with easy rebate. Wide FOV
  3. Doesn't matter what finger or shoulder with a double barrel!
  4. Tony. Get them involved with events and others as age permits. Remember don't push them pass their limits on the first few trips. When they call it quits. It's time to quit. It may be frustrating but after the first couple of times you can stretch it out longer. The last thing you want to do is drive them away by forcing them to hunt/hike/fish harder their first time. And don't let some JA play the heavy recoil trick on them. Nothing ruins someone nerves worse than getting a shoulder full of bruises or getting tagged by the scope. For son's fourth birthday he asked to go scouting and climb mountains. Music to my ears

Kind of like a life insurance plan or something

Sounds like they are banking on residual income and hoping some people expire or quit hunting before they actually draw.
  7. If that were the case I'd try to duplicate factory loads and then tweak from there.

    Solid advice
  9. that is a neat looking coat. congrats!
  10. Been toying around the idea of a new rifle. Have various calibers and magnums, so pretty much covered. A cartridge that has recently peaked my interest has been the 375 Ruger..... surprisingly its ballastics and long range is on par with the 338WM. Not much of a long range junky, but I like to beat up my shoulder. So the question?...... Does the 375 Ruger have a place in AZ hunting? Would you prefer a 7mm Rem Mag, 300WM, or 375 Ruger for Elk? Handloading is a no brainer on this one.
  11. Tried some loads with RL17 and 300gr Game kings. Very promising so far and pressure signs at the upper end were nothing of concern. 105 degree weather, no sticky bolt. Time to fine tune and tweak. Didn't want to blow up my chrony this session, but would guess the velocity around 2700+. Wasn't really shooting for groups but they would of easily been under 1" if not better. Will need to set up some time to shoot these loads over the chrony

Carrying Extra Rounds in the Field

Does anyone use a MOLLE attatchment to their pack or the waste band?
  13. 4-500 is considered above long range to me :-) they can dial and check laser distance all they want, but they still have to take into account the wind and terrain etc. So i'll leave those long range sniper shots to the pros :-D I topped her off with a Vortex Viper. Was too hot last weekend to sight it in. maybe this weekend

    Cell service help...

whoa. how far of a signal does the wilson booster attenuate. In town I find its a mix of vzw, tmobile, att. depedning where and how deep in a building i am has the best signal but out in the sticks. vzw hands down. at least getting 1x or 3g is good enough for making a call or pulling down a map.
  15. Exactly!!! Not like they go through much or hire special people. Everyone rags on walmart and the dumb people behind the gun counter who doesn't have a clue. It's the same crap at other big box stores that sell guns....who's suppose to have specialty people. I don't care wtf they know. Do my research before hand and I am only in the store to make a transaction not to listen to what some burger flipper or jiffy lube guy has to tell me. And to pay their mark up over walmart for the "specially trained" staff that is suppose to help you. No thnk you
  16. Looking real versatile. The standard action is great as it can fit just about any gun with a mag bolt face. 7rm. 300wm. 338wm. No problem to re barrel. Been comparing the different weights and velocity. Trajectory pretty much stays the same.

    Vortex

oh, i get it now. good luck, they are plenty of glass for the money. the 8.5 magnification is nice too, it doesn't introduce so much shake as the 10x or higher does.....but then again these hands aren't known to be steady when looking at a buck!
  18. neato idea right there! I know it hurts like heck when pushing full bore bullets I cast. Some lube always help along the way

    Bushnell Legend HD

I have a pair of these. Glass is clear even in early mornings or late evenings. Even does a great job looking at stars at night. I don't really like the eyecups, but then again you are looking at the spotting scope. The new Legend are quite a step above the old and entry level Bushnell. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Bushnell-reg-Legend-Ultra-HD-x-Binoculars/748883.uts

    Vortex

i bought them for my wife a few months back. used a coupon and cash back so it was like 100 bucks OTD :-D They are ok, I like the eyecups better than most of the other binocs. Is it the greatest....no, is it worth 100 bucks, you bet!
  24. was it hard to push in or your palm hurting? the newer CVA have the palm saver. kind of a round rubber end of the ram rod. After a few rounds, the sabots do have a hard time going down, i usually spit clean every couple rounds

    5.56/223 for deer? Input welcome

yeah without reloading i would just go to another caliber. Can't really play too much with the variables. but 1:8 should stablilize a good variety of bullets including the heavier stuff. oh course magazine length would limit it some too. hows the herd doing up there? they getting roudy and noisy yet?
