What's the correct threading size for a Tikka T3 7mm magnum with a muzzle diameter of .628 ? Stock barrel, non stainless if that matters. Just want to have it threaded for a brake. Thanks Jim
-
Thanks for the input everyone. Looks like 1/2 x 28 is the best choice. Lance, those are sweet looking rifles.
-
Thanks guys. Seems like there needs to be a compromise that allows for a shoulder and still maintains as much barrel wall as possible. A 300WM with a 1/2-28 thread doesn't leave very much metal. Makes me feel better about turning down this one.

Thanks tropical. What I was trying to ask is if that barrel can be threaded 5/8 inch or needs to go 9/16. Will there be enough remaining wall thickness with a 9/16 thread on a .284 bore? A 9/16 thread would equal this if I'm doing the right math. .5625-.284 = .2785 divided by 2 = .13925 remaining barrel wall This seems pretty thin, but I don't know what is acceptable. If I could go with 5/8 thread .625 - .284 = .341 divided by 2 = .1705

Sweet.

What distance would you use a 3-15 VX5 to hunt deer size game? Is it effective out to 800 plus yards? Thx and Merry Christmas. Jim

B&C medalist stock for Tikka T3 in tan/black web

Sold pending funds. Thx Jim -
Bought this stock but it just does not fit my trigger hand the way I prefer. It's a tad wider than the factory stock. Instead of modifying it, I'm looking at selling. Perfect shape, never bedded or used in the field. $220 picked up in Tucson Thx Jim

3-15 rifle scope hunting range?
no worries replied to no worries's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Ron I haven't measured groups at 500 since the last load development. I did hit an 8 inch plate 3 for 3 at 500 meters with the new load, but didn't measure the group. I'm guessing I'm a little over 1 MOA at 500. -

Yes. Right hand. All Tikkas T3 use the same action. They shorten the bolt throw on short actions. It does have a built in recoil lug. Thx Jim. -
Family hunts rock. Congrats on filling 3 tags.

I have a tan/black webbing medalist stock and it feels a little bulky around the pistol grip area. Guess I'm more used to a thinner factory style. Anyone ever sand on one ? Will it remain tan once the surface gets sanded down? I would prefer not to have the stock repainted but don't want it to look crappy either. Thx Jim

Sanding down a B&C medalist stock

Thanks guys for the answers. I'm leaning towards just adapting to the wider feeling grip. -
I ended up with a surplus of H4350 in one pound containers. Anyone who needs some can have it for cost. I'll have to look at the receipt, but it ran $31-32 a pound with shipping. Not the cheapest but at least it was available.
