6.5 PRC Hornady Precision Hunter Ammo 143 ELD-X

Sounds like a legit reason to purchase another rifle. LOL

Tikka 7 mm Remington magnum $425

    Sold. Thx Justin
  4. Like new in original box. 43 rounds fired, shot factory ammo sub MOA. Black synthetic stock with blued barrel. Box, papers, lock and original rings included. $425 FTF in Tucson
  5. I have a chance to trade a rifle for some barrel blanks. These seem pretty well regarded by guys on other forums. Anyone using or had experience with Mullerworks ? He was with Rock Creek and they still make his barrels, but he does his own rifling/lapping. If I trade, what would be the most popular barrel to later sell if I end up with extras? I'm thinking 6.5 with an 8 twist in a #4 contour would be in demand.

    Youth LH Rifle

Tikka compacts are another option. They have an insert to extend the LOP later. 6 pound hunting rifles that usually shoot extremely well. A good recoil pad goes a long way on whatever you end up with.

    Youth LH Rifle

For what it's worth. I'm left eye dominant but grew up shooting borrowed RH rifles. I prefer shooting RH rifles since it allows me to cycle a round while maintaining a trigger hold. If she has been shooting a RH rifle already and has no problem with cycling rounds let her shoot it as a lefty. Lots of rifle stocks do not have a cheek rest so the rifle doesn't really have any negative toward lefty shooting other than the bolt. Plus you can borrow her rifle!!!

    Hornady 6.5 PRC

A production rifle in 6.5 that shoots right at 3000 fps with reasonable priced factory ammo. Seems like a winner. The Seekins 6.5 PRC hunting rifle has a lot offer for the $$. Bet they give Cooper and the other 2K brands some competition.

    First timer

Cool story. Lots of effort for a first timer, but that makes it sweeter. Shooting a buck on the first morning you ever hunt doesn't give you those memories.

Glad you decided to share your hunt. Nice story and a nice coues buck.
  14. What's the correct threading size for a Tikka T3 7mm magnum with a muzzle diameter of .628 ? Stock barrel, non stainless if that matters. Just want to have it threaded for a brake. Thanks Jim

    Thread size question

Thanks for the input everyone. Looks like 1/2 x 28 is the best choice. Lance, those are sweet looking rifles.

    Thread size question

Thanks guys. Seems like there needs to be a compromise that allows for a shoulder and still maintains as much barrel wall as possible. A 300WM with a 1/2-28 thread doesn't leave very much metal. Makes me feel better about turning down this one.

    Thread size question

Thanks tropical. What I was trying to ask is if that barrel can be threaded 5/8 inch or needs to go 9/16. Will there be enough remaining wall thickness with a 9/16 thread on a .284 bore? A 9/16 thread would equal this if I'm doing the right math. .5625-.284 = .2785 divided by 2 = .13925 remaining barrel wall This seems pretty thin, but I don't know what is acceptable. If I could go with 5/8 thread .625 - .284 = .341 divided by 2 = .1705

  20. What distance would you use a 3-15 VX5 to hunt deer size game? Is it effective out to 800 plus yards? Thx and Merry Christmas. Jim

B&C medalist stock for Tikka T3 in tan/black web

    Sold pending funds. Thx Jim
  22. Bought this stock but it just does not fit my trigger hand the way I prefer. It's a tad wider than the factory stock. Instead of modifying it, I'm looking at selling. Perfect shape, never bedded or used in the field. $220 picked up in Tucson Thx Jim
