Has anyone else killed any turkeys in Unit 1 or 27?

I'm not sure how to score a turkey, but my dad said it was the biggest merriams turkey he has ever seen and he has been hunting them for a long time. Unfortunately we didn't weigh it and we cooked it up for dinner tonight. 218 buck- good luck on your hunt this weekend. We were hunting further south than we usually do. We talked to some of my dad's friends and they were having a tough time further north.

My dad and me went on the youth turkey hunt this weekend. Unfortunately we couldn't get out until Sunday morning. We set up in one area and called, but didn't get any responses so we moved to another area a little bit higher. We set up and called and got a quick response from a Tom just over a small ridge from where we were at. We called for a little bit, but the Tom did not move any closer to us. It sounded like the Tom was moving up the drainage on the other side of the ridge so we moved around them and tried to get in front of the them. A few minutes after we got there we saw the mature Tom strutting around 3 hens (probably why we couldn't pull him in with our calls). There was also a Jake with them, he was a happy man once the tom was gone . I stayed still and let them move to within 30 yards and shot the big Tom. He had a 10.5" beard and 1 1/4" spurs. He is my biggest turkey so far.

Unit 1 has some good bucks in it

That was a fun hunt it was my first Tom ive killed besides a little jake when i was 12

Well DNS being my pops he just made my whole hunting career alot harder im gonna have a tough time passing that one up
