Shot in the dark! I need your help finding my first rifle I sold. Please Read.
knothead replied to tjkazhunter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I hope you find it and work out a deal to get it back. I sold my 6" blue colt python when I was in college back in the 80's because I needed money. One of the worst decisions I ever made. -
I'm with GreyGhost on this one and will continue to only buy points until they get this straightened out. Too many bad stories for me to jump into the mix. On a side note. I was recently told a story about an older gentleman who lives in the Showlow area and he came across someone who blocked a forest service road. Not sure how it all went down but the road blocker ended up having to hire someone to pull his truck out of a canyon. Anyone who blocks a road is just asking for trouble in my opinion. I am also a true believer in first come first served no matter if you are DIY or someone with deep pockets and pay someone to find your animals for you. Sorry to hear about your experience. I'm sure when you were planning and dreaming about your hunt you did not have all this BS in mind. Thanks for the update

I also need a plumber. Someone who can replace a hose bib on side of house. I live near 83rd ave and pinnacle peak.

Started last week @ 218. Three knee surgeries and 53 years of life limit me to walking, the eliptical and weights. Goal is 175 my Sept. 14 when I leave for my early archery hunt. Hardest part me is the diet and eating clean. Was never much of a beer drinker but I love mexican food.

Back in August of 93 I got bucked off of a young horse my father had just purchased on that very trail. While I have fallen off many times this was the first and only time I over got bucked off. The man who witnessed it said he thought he was walking up on a dead man because he never saw someone take a fall like that before. My back was jacked-up for about 4 years because of it. The horse ending up throwing my dad a few months later so he sold it to some rancher in Idaho. I will admit, that looks like a whole lot more fun than I am having.

Have you ever called the help desk at AZ G&F? Very good chance you will get bad or incorrect information.
-
Buy an AZ life-time license before you leave. You will not regret it.

McCain and Flake neocons? Now that is funny. I Can't remember the last time he was accused of even slightly resembling a conservative. Throughout McCain's career he has been criticized for being a RINO. I also agree that he has taught Flake everything he knows.

I don't know who is more fired up, that tom or me? Heading to San Carlos Res this Thursday and looking forward to some turkey action.

I like to go through this topic every once in a while just to refresh my memory. Some good information is given. I haven't put out cameras in a couple years since I had 3 stolen over a 1 month period. None were within 200 yards of water but all were taken during shed hunting season. I am not going to put cameras out this year until middle of June then pick up before the archery deer opener.

Well done. Looks like a happy family that enjoys the great outdoors. Happy Birthday!

I use to take my kids to 4a for Jr. turkey and forest service always opened 300 rd 1 or 2 days before the opener. I once drove in during the middle of the night and got stuck in a snowdrift while pulling a trailer. Took 8 hours to dig out.

Who is hunting san carlos this year? I have the 2nd hunt and headed over on the 13th. Good Luck

A bad year in Missouri is better than a great year in AZ.

Does anyone have the original list of leftover tags from spring draw for turkey/javelina? thanks

thank you

I was always surprised at how many did not go on the hunts they had drawn. We used to hunt 17a rifle deer and I can remember 7-10 percent of tags issued were not used each year. I always chalked it up to "life happens". Stuff comes up and you just can't go for one reason or another. The rumor of anti-hunters drawing and not using tags has been around for decades but I have never seen proof of it. Once they required the purchase of a hunting license in order apply probably made any anti's stop applying if they had been. No way they are giving money to G&F. I like point guard for such "life happening" events. I also like that it can only be used once before you lose all points on 2nd time. congratulations to all that drew a tag this year.

that explains it. I'm satisfied now.

Do we need to keep guessing? Since the people that know about this are not inclined to give out out information, is there a link to an article or name we can search to find out more information on our own?

As a former computer programmer I can tell you what programming 101 instructor told the class back in 1983. Computers are only as smart as the person who built it, programmed it and entered the information into it. They only do what they are instructed to do. This is very interesting to see because every year I hear of a story like this but I never believe it. I figure somebody fat fingered their selection, couldn't remember what they put in for or were lying. Looking at the selection choices, I find it odd that an early rifle hunt was put down as a 4th choice. I haven't put a 3-5 choice down in years and many times put the same choice as my first and second. If G&F gave an explanation, I would like to hear it in a PM.

South of 260 towards fossil springs also hold sheep.

possibly. I have a satin frame with 14" .223 and 14" 7mm TCU. Stainless scope, hammer extension, 7mm TCU brass, aprox 30 loaded rounds & uncle mikes shoulder holster. I have not shot it in 10 years or more. It just sits in my gun case. I honestly do not know what it is worth so I would have to do some research. john north peoria 623-680-4458

If you have a child or grand child that is a minor and can hunt why not apply with them for any hunt you think they might enjoy? Buy point guard. If you get drawn, turn in your tag and get your points back plus a point for this year. Then go enjoy hunting with your family. You are most likely not going to draw a primo unit 9 or 23 early rifle with 19 points this year anyway. My recommendation allows you to use your points twice rather than once. Get the most value for your points that you can. When you do draw, I recommend you treat yourself to the hunt of lifetime. If that means hiring a guide or taking the entire season off for a DIY, then do it. You earned it and the time & money saved over all these years justifies treating yourself well. Good luck & Good Hunting

Never heard of it. I work just up the road at 83rd and Peoria nice to know there are other options.
