The .308 has been taking down moose for years, elk is a much smaller critter than a moose. And as a side my son is going to use his .243 shooting 100 grain nosler partitions for cow elk this year and I ain't worried.

Yeah that's too busy for me. I prefer the TMR reticle coupled with an M1 turret. If a quick shot is needed then use the TMR if I've got time the M1

Shot an eastern whitetail with a .223 and a 53 grain tsx. It smashed him. :-)

Get off the roads and start gaining altitude. I mean hike back in a couple of miles to get away from people. Most hunt off the roads there. Always bruisers in 33 just gotta look for them.

Nary a problem here, my son shot a coues 2 yrs ago at 400 yds with the 80 grain ttsx in his .243 it opened up and the little buck only went about 30 yds before giving up the ghost, course those 30 yds were rolling downhill. lol. They will be just fine. -

Bought my son the vortex 8x32s Diamondbacks, he really likes them. I just couldn't bear making him use some junk binos straining his developing eyes.

Yep on the BH209, wonder powder. Won't use anything else. -
I use a leupold vx3 2.5x8 with M1 turrets in a lowly .223 to shoot jackrabbits at 600 yds, don't see no reason to use a Hubble to take a deer at less distance.

^^this^^ And yes measuring off the ogive is most consistant. I never measure OAL, only off ogive. -

.243 then. My son took his first coues at 400 with his shooting 80 grain TTSX's. Course I hand load. -
