E-tag, but you still have to tag the animal with a "material of your choice" with a unique code on it. What the point of an e-tag if we still have to tag it? Might as well keep the original sticker tag.

almost looks like someone at G&F made the executive decision to close it. Jumped to 55.

There's a lot more to it than that. Here is the exact wording from the application: The Arizona Game and Fish Department may issue a CROSSBOW permit if the applicant has one or more of the following physical limitations: An amputation involving body extremities required for stable function to use conventional archery equipment; A spinal cord injury resulting in a disability to the lower extremities, leaving the applicant nonambulatory; A wheelchair restriction; A neuromuscular condition that prevents the applicant from drawing and holding a bow; A failed manual muscle test involving the grading of shoulder and elbow flexion and extension or an impaired range-of-motion test involving the shoulder or elbow; A combination of comparable physical disabilities resulting in the applicant's inability to draw and hold a bow; or A failed functional draw test that equals 30 pounds of resistance and involves holding it for four seconds. The functional draw test may not be used to determine eligibility for the permit when it is not associated with a disability.

The majority of the deer killed with this new system will be the dumb and young bucks. Sucks for guys that are looking for older deer but at least your students are out hunting instead of being a tree hugging liberal.

Im assuming it will show up as AZGFD on the caller ID. That's what I've seen in the past

30 foot rule is as bad as the motor vehicle use map. The 2 inch by 2 inch road closed stickers work real well. Might be the dumbest thing I've ever seen them do. What happened to blading the front of the road and putting a 4 foot sign in the middle of the road? Seems like they used to do it that way and now they expect everyone to know which roads are open and closed. I'm sorry but your 2 inch sticker is useless.

Its Time To Change the Arizona Bonus Point System
CouesFanatic replied to geoffsl's topic in The Campfire
Theres been a few guys getting legit hits today, it still isn't over. You still might get that 20c tag. Not likely but they are still charging people. -

in the 80% random tags the odds are not linear at all. Check any unit any hunt for odds. They go up very slowly until the 20% bonus point numbers are reached. Squaring the points would turn Arizona into a preference point system by odds and would be horrible for young or new hunters. It's pretty much the opposite of what we have currently. -

Thats how I understand it. Thats why you get a range of point levels in the bonus point pass -
Its Time To Change the Arizona Bonus Point System
CouesFanatic replied to geoffsl's topic in The Campfire
Theres just not enough animals to go around, let alone the trophy hunts you are applying for. A true preference point system would be a nightmare in Arizona. We don't have the game numbers like other states. Look at Nevada, its a squared bonus point system. Some hunts odds are like 1/7000. If you want to hunt top end hunts you better be prepared to wait a long time or get lucky drawing, otherwise lower your expectations and hunt easier hunts. -

who cares if someone draws it who hasn't waited as long. 20% to max points, 80% random. Keep it that way. BTW, how many states do you apply for each year geoffsl? -
Its Time To Change the Arizona Bonus Point System
CouesFanatic replied to geoffsl's topic in The Campfire
Keep the current system. The only change I see needed is a price increase. $58 dollars for a deer tag seems very low. I spend more than that going to dinner with the family. The random part of the draw keeps people applying, especially new people and kids. Go look at Nevadas odds if you think our system is bad. -
Also have the Inreach Mini. I'm happy with it but I hear the Zoleo is cheaper and does the same thing.

Looking to buy, rent, borrow a large cheap cooler. I have a rifle population management elk hunt in two weeks and need a cooler to keep the velvet antlers cool and dry till I can get them to a freezer. Also looking for a large deep freeze

Forest service road closures
CouesFanatic replied to weldor's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I've seen the closures and its from the fire in there 2 years ago. Pretty lame excuse. I appreciate having some roads closed but not ones that are 20 plus miles long and the only access to thousands of acres. I know they took a while to take some of those down, maybe they forgot some? -
