  1. Has been some time since I have logged in. Again we are spending our winter just north of Deming for nice winter weather. I have been having problems with a land owner that has fenced legal access to New Mexico public State land. Can anyone put me in contact with anyone in the Deming area to discuss what the legal ramifications to access of these public lands. I have contacted the local NMGF warden Drew Vanliew to discuss this plus I have spoken to the Luna County Sheriff office with limited success. Need to talk to a local with some real information or where else to research legal options. Thanks all for any and all input. MTG

Good place to start and what's it worth?

It would be priced right at around $600 with the work that ha been completed. I have had mine pillar bedded, the front two inches of the bbl. glass bedded, muzzle brake, reduced trigger weight to 2#, Vortex HSLR 4.5-14x44MM scope. This I load 180 Accubonds and they are a hammer load. I have taken 18 African antelope, a mountain goat, many deer, elk and an Aoudad with this rem. 700, SPS, 300WSM. I love the Rem. Tupperware stock BTW. I free floated the bbl. myself. This rifle will shoot .750 with 66.0 gr. off IMR 4831, WLR primers, 180 Nosler accubonds. I have shot two Zebra thru and thru with this load. Have not had one animal complain about not being dead enuf! MTG

    Whats in your holster ?

XP-100R barreled for a 260AI that I hand load 130gr. Hornady SST and 120 Nosler BT. Both are deadly out to 500 yds. plus as long as I do my part. MTG

Pwrguy, I have hunted Texas extensively for feral hogs and exotics. Have done reasonably well below the Cap Rock in the Panhandle and very well south of San Antonio around Coy City. I ran into a wood cutter down in the boot heel of NM near the Coronado Nat'l. forest who informed me that indeed he has come across feral hogs in that area. But, a person has to be careful to stay off of private property in the boot heel. I will continue looking and report back if and when I find 'em. MTG

Greetings all, I just found this forum and have joined to become part of this community. I hail from NW Montana but spend my winters in SW New Mexico. I am a long time hunter, conservationist, reloader, fisherman, etc. I hunt quail and dove near Deming, NM and have been looking for feral hogs to no avail, so far. Hope to contribute to this forum and glean information as time passes. MTG
