They do things differently up here- you buy a tag, you're good to go. Select the weapon, Eastern or Western, and pick what you're hunting in that unit and .. that's about it. Same with deer- but I'll do what I did last year and smack one from the treestand in the backyard. Doing Eastern this year. Kid got a Tacoma so we're taking that and the F250 and overlanding through the units we're going to hunt. Lots of boots on the ground. Never been there before. You can run cams in Washington. I'll be setting up cell cams (My favorite hobby) and going there as much as possible. Closest unit is 200 miles from the house, so it'll be 3-4 days at a time. It's close to the Washington BDR trail and that's on my to do list anyways. Hoping for a good thread start. At least I can post some scenery later 😃

Cams are up. Plenty of elk in the area. Came across this gem while scouting. Looks just like my favorite mountain when it's not a circus. I'm glad the elk aren't shy. Need to find some 'true spikes' in the unit.

They got that lovely neurotoxin and the personality to match..

I have something similar. I wasn't convinced until I bought an e-bike- and it's instrumental on all of these logging roads. You can scout quietly and bring some gear with ya.

Oooooo. Ya know.. If I was in AZ right now..

Yeah I’m only hunting eastern Washington from now on..

Have to. I have the duplex light- but they have a new ARK system now. They're super versatile and can add bags and pouches just about anywhere. They came out with a Scabbard- and it's about time! I'm thinking of getting one this weekend: https://kifaru.net/products/the-scabbard?srsltid=AfmBOoqmOvqYeRI1dAcZV259v3MSah19CkaL4Po8Q7zJ7TQA5XvaEZhh Yeah I just got it. Can't pass it up.

I heard Paul put 40 mil on himself to win. I give it 2 mins. Old man strength for the win.

I hear the campgrounds by Long Lake are a great spot to setup base.

We really should be doing more elk scouting but.. Weather was killer for fishing. Salmon was dying down. Not so for trout.

For those who are familiar with W. Washington Elk.. Rifle hunt. 11/2-11/13. Lots of rain coming. I'm hitting 638 and 663 - those are the closer units. I'm coming across tons of land that's owned by logging companies (I have a pass to walk, not drive ugh) on some of the roads- and most of the other stuff it is privately owned. I've even found elk on Capital Forest, only to have the road closed off the next week for 'falling trees'. I'm telling ya- if you want to know an area, walk it. Also by Olympia- Unfortunately they're in backyards. I've hit Capital Forest, Col. Bob, (Yeah, good luck walking there) and a various other areas in those units and it's mind blowing how restricted they are. Are there better units in W. Washington? Was thinking 672 might be a better option.

The boss gets backstrap when I pull this off..

Actually , I’m good 😊 I’m in the right place. Hopefully there won’t be 14 days of rain. Looking forward to getting this done. I took off 15 days for this..

Yup. Tastes like whitetail!

The kid likes to fish, (I do too) but deer gives you more bang for the buck. So to speak. Doe in the freezer- a good day.
