I've been needing an ATV for a long time now. It's not just the ability to haul game and scout, but it's going to expand my scouting range. Now I can drive to the middle of nowhere- and then start walking. So I'm looking- I see some ads in craigslist. I got a few bucks, I'd probably want to finance the rest. One of the Ridenows has the Can Am Outlander 450 for $3499. Not a bad price. I go down there, and they really really want to sell me a 570. Turns out the 450 isn't in stock- but they can get me one. OK- fair enough. Lets go talk numbers. In short- a $3499 ATV turned out to be $5400 out the door. We're talking destination fees, setup fees, taxes. blah blah.. I get that they have to make money- but that's ridiculous. I walked. I expected maybe something like 4100-4200 out the door. But those fees are robbery. Am I going to expect these types of 'fees' at all the dealerships? If so, I might just buy used. There's a few good ones out there. And if this isn't ALL of the dealers, who are some of the better ones? I heard about a place near Rye- but they didn't sell Can Ams.

Solid advice. That I will do.

I should clarify- I was pre approved for whatever I wanted from desert financial..but I really didnt want to finance unpacking fees. Ill try four seasons.. or maybe a good used Polaris!

I'm so not happy with this process. I didn't get them, so I went down to the Carefree office this morning. I told them what was going on. They had the wrong address on file- apparently it didn't transfer over on the apps and the online stuff. So they know it was sent to the wrong address (3 of them). Their solution? Wait until they get sent back, and then we'll check the new address in the system and send them back to you. **Rely on the new renters to send them back. Great. ** .... Can't you just print them out now? Oh no. If you don't have them within 30 days of the hunt, just let us know. Have a great day!\ ... Can'y you just print them out now? You know they got sent to the wrong address... That's policy. .. What!???

So update.. They actually sent me the tags. I didn't see anything about a wrong address.. they just came in the mail last week.

https://weather.com/forecast/regional/news/2018-06-11-tropical-depression-storm-hurricane-bud-phoenix-tucson-rain Not liking those predictions- It has Bud almost altogether missing Phoenix and hitting NM. It's now a tropical storm.

Great news. (Not the lightning) About forest closures- if we get enough water, they open them up. What I don't understand is: Who and how do they make that determination that it's wet enough to open them back up?

Great info. I think I might go with the Sig 1250

Hey guys, Looking for a rangefinder. I have a decent one for archery but past 100 yards it sucks. Id like it to reliably tell me how far that elk is up to 600 yards. Past that is a bonus but were gearing up to practice out to that range. Hopefully under 200 bucks-im reading a lot of mixed reviews, and some say certain ones are great, others say the same one cant find deer at 400 yards. So I come to the pros. What are you using?

So I wanted to check out Horsethief Basin by Crown King. Never fished there. Took my fish-happy kid with me, and we did the 2 hour trip- and almost got there. It was *totally* my fault for not checking the closures. Where's the fish biting now- that's open? I haven't checked Horseshoe or Bartlett yet. On a side note - some people think their Jeeps and Razr's can fly. Almost got hit a few times on the hairpins going up.

Love the guys at Healy

Hi guys, The kid is selling his Gamo Bone Collector Bull Whisperer .177. We upgraded him. A little wear, but overall in very good condition. I looked on Amazon today- about $280. I figure I'd cut that in half. No scope or mounts. It doesn't have iron sights, so you would have to throw a scope on it. Thanks!
-
Same. God bless the men and women who have served this great country!
-
I need to do some scouting myself- I've never been to 7W but the kid has a Youth Elk there in Oct. I'm hoping it's even open with all the forest closures.

Man- I love that mountain. Hope they get it out quick. Nothing on inciweb

I'm betting it was a close fight, if he had to shoot it 5x. Sad part, is he left the card in the machine. WORSE! The batteries died before he shot it. *sigh*

Time to right the fence. Turns out my property line is 17 yards off. I need put up some fence (T posts) into some rock, and I'm hoping there's a good way to do it. Most of the 240 ft I'm lining with T posts is ok, but there's about 30 ft of rock that I have to navigate. What's the best way to put a post into rock!? Do you have to drill first?
-
Pretty much. They make epoxy for shallow posts, sets up quick so be prepared. 30' of fence posts placed over rock isnt crucial if you have good solid corners and sturdy posts either side of the rocks. You can also build a rock column over the rock. Build a cage where the post goes and fill with rocks.rock cage.JPG I hadn't thought of that. And the bone is a great touch. It's going to hold some horses- but you know, that might just work.

Cool, thanks. Turns out Home Depot has a roto hammer 2" Makita for about $75 bucks a day.
