Yeah. Snakes try to come into tents. I had to shoot a rattler through my bighorn window. Get the sewn in.

Some good points all, thank you. Ill try to clarify some. I plan on being here for a long time... maybe retire here one day. Some pros: The system takes 90 minutes to setup and fits in the back of a pickup. Comes with a ten year warranty. And the big selling point for me is : emp proof. The only system available that can claim that. Crap happens- whether its a psycho dictator with a nuke or a carrington event- Ill have the lights on. That doesnt suck.and my number one motivation .. 12k (after rebates) wont break the bank if I finance it. Im not sure why it switches to grid power at night, but its my understanding that it only uses the batteries when it has to- that the panes during the day actually power the house. Batteries are For grid interruptions during the night.. Ill own it in 5 years... I do not know how much Ill save per month. During the summer I imagine not much. Id get clarification on that before anything advances.. It also powers the well in a grid down. Also a cheaper version would be fantastic for elk camp and freezers.. and even an RV-(which I have yet to get) Im thinking of some decent possibilities here!

So I put my only youth hunter in for 5b/6a for cow as a first choice like last year. The older son and I are going to try for 7e cow late then 7e bull.. threw in a 5b late bull for good measure. Not a lot of points going into this so I'm not counting on anything. But after eating elk like 3x a week for 4 months, you kinda wanna get more..

Get home last night.. Tell the wife about the new job. Surprise! My 14 year old comes up and asks if I'm busy. No what's up? Dad, I have a ton of cash from Christmas and Birthday and stuff and I have a plan. So I ask the usual.. what video game, what xbox, blah blah.. I see zombies in the future already. "Dad, take me to Cabelas and get me outfitted to a new bow because the old one is too short. I want to kill deer like you do in August". ...*sniffle*..

I hear good things about Arizona Archery?

Seems like that would be worst place to be since that's where they'd target to get our missles. yeah. Anywhere in Montana is a fallout problem..

I've lived all over. The only two states I would live in are Idaho and Arizona. Currently in New River because I can't stand the Phoenix rush and traffic. But If I had to move- I'd go to the Redoubt. Moyie Springs or Bonners Ferry. Or- Northern Arizona, maybe by Williams. If only they had jobs around either..

Ok. Old topic, but I have a plan. My well pump in New River is shot. I had a guy come out and inspect it and the whole 9 yards and it's time to replace. Amps just go up and up till it pops the fuse. He said about 1700 for the job. I guess that's not too bad, but being kinda big and my kids are almost bigger, I'm saying I can do this. Besides, that's what Youtube is for. I mean I even did the whole front end of my Yukon watching youtube. (You can't be scared of breaking crap!) It's a 3/4 HP 3 Wire pump at 200 ft. Home Depot has a Everbilt 3/4 - and I'm thinking that will be big enough like the last one to suck up water from 200 ft and put it in a cistern. (From there it goes to a pressure tank). My question for those DIY guys, (Or even professionally) is: Is it any harder than getting the pump out of the hole, switch the pumps, rewire with the correct butt ends and waterproof them - test it- and throw it back down? The control box checks out ok- I'm guessing I just have to reconnect the new pump. I know there's a little more detail than that- like not scraping the pipe on the well, etc.. But basically- that's it? Besides the knowledge, I'm saving like 1300. The pump is only 370 bucks compared to a 1700 job.

Ok. Yesterday we tried to pull it. It's not the black flexi stuff that you see in all those wonderful youtube videos. It's 200 ft of PVC.. the first ten ft was wrapped in black duct tape so I thought it wasn't PVC.. I got it up to 15 ft past the ground and it wasn't bending.. Not sure exactly how to handle that without it snapping at some point. I'm wondering if there is a rig that I can rent that will bring the pipe up? Anyone know where to go for something like that? And oh yeah.. it's a bit heavy.
-
... Ouch. And I don't know where to go with this. I'm hoping a license is ALL you lost.. I'd hate to think of loosing the other god given's.

See, that's what I'm looking for!! =) I'm pretty sure it's black PVC pipe. If it turns out to be metal, I'll call a pro. If it's PVC, I'll get a spool-type thing and get it up. I will go with the goulds though- if I hear that name that many times in this few of posts it has to be good. I'll test it when it's up. If it fails, I'll call well guy and have him come over and figure out what wrong. If it passes, I'll throw it down the hole and call it done. Saturdays the day! Now I gotta find out who sells them.

I walked outside.. and noticed it would be perfect for snakes. In January? Don't I get a break from danger noodles sometime this year?

Bought a Fenix hp25r. Lights up the world. Do I need it all the time? Nah. Just for snake avoidance and finding down deer 2 hours after I take a shot in last light. Nothing sucks more than needing more power and not having it. Now a days they have 16 million settings for these things.

Im sure a ton of you guys have one of these packs, and I see them reviewed highly- everywhere. I'm looking into it. I have a Team Elk- and I LOVE The pack, but I'm 6'5" and it just doesn't fit like it should. Thinking about upgrading. So the Kifaru packs- they have a base frame- and then you mix whatever bag you want with them? I'm thinking about getting the Reckoning but the system is close to twice the price of a Team Elk. They also have the option of this gun carry forward system on the hips. Looks good. Are they worth it?

I had an opportunity for that- I had my 45 with the buffalo bore. I was glassing one side of the hill and my son with a deer tag (I had the bear tag) had the other about 15 yards the other direction. He had the rifle. Suddenly my binocs were filled with black fur. I dropped the glasses and a huge black bear had walked about 15 yard in front of me- and he didn't see the boy either. I had the pistol trained on him but if I had shot, and he didn't go down, and happened to see my son.. could've been bad. He passed on- you should have seen my sons face when he finally saw it walk by. As far as actively hunting them? Like going out and looking for them? I wouldn't go out with anything smaller than a .44 Once you get that close you kinda get it.

Color me convinced. I'll take the plunge next month. Looking forward to an upgrade. Thanks guys.
