Alaknak with a stove. I'm going 2 days early to prep camp and cut wood. Last year in Dec it got close to 0. Froze all the water in camp. I'll be a bit more prepared this year. See you there!

And get a J-13. That sucker is amazing.

Yeah the boys have the Ultimate Thule Bag. They're awesome. I might give this pad a go.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/11/07/deer-kills-seasoned-hunter.html Poor guy. I've often wondered what would happen if they ran the other way..

They know it's wrong, they just don't care. I remember having to knock on an RV's door at 4am on opening morning of an archery hunt on the top of Mount Ord because he parked sideways blocking every campsite at the top of the mountain. I would totally call the sheriff on this one.

The wife juggles it all at camp.. usually 3 dutch ovens and a 2 burner coleman. That thing is ancient too..

That's fantastic! What a bull!

How much does something like that run?

federales did? i call bullshit. I didn't take it personally, he shook down every car on the highway like 15 miles south of the border. We waited in line like everyone else.. (1 lone cop) Senior, I have $6, a pack of grade B smokes and 5 corona. And he took 'em.. 1. cops and federales are not the same 2. you said you "tend" to get robbed. which means regularly and frequently, but then you said it happened once in "like" 1988. I honestly didn't know the difference at 18. Maybe a cop, maybe a Fed, dunno. It was someone who shouldn't be holding an AK and demanding money from tourists on the way back to the States. It's not like he was uber aggressive, just enough to convince me not to return. I took the hint.

Myself and my family won't go south of the border. No need to use up karma points like that. This was like 1988.. maybe things have gotten better but I just don't see the need to test it out.

That looks like a fantastic trip. I'd love to do something like that, but I tend to get robbed by the Federales when I go to Mexico so..

Sounds like an indian name.. What a great trip! It took a few days, but the boys both tagged out and got the family's first elk. They're looking forward to the Kaibab mulie hunt in Nov- now i'm in the market for a new freezer. I wanted to thank AZHUNER05 and kazpilot25 for some invaluable advice on the unit!

It was my first time field dressing an elk, and it was a challenge. Doing two was a chore. I didn't realize how freaking enormous they were. We quartered them out and went from there.. Got back to camp really late..

Killer deal. If I didn't already have an Alaknak..

I think squirrels are in season? I'll have to double check, but there's TONS of em up there. Great for lunch!

Great stove! The family is getting geared up and we're going up Wed to 5BS. It will be the boys first ever elk hunt. I added some new chairs to the elk camp to accommodate for the newest member of the family.

$30 for 1. I might give this a shot.. ..and then go find it.

Congrats! Lets posts some pics! =)

That's how it is! The boys live on their XBOX's- (It's the modern day equivalent of getting on your bike, going to the corner, and seeing who's outside to play). -But once I mention the idea of setting up some new and interesting targets, it's time to go. And we mix it up for scouting. They grow bored quickly but I challenge them to make it a pseudo hunt. Can you actually find the animal, get in position, and think you can take a shot? Get the camera.

Was running low on water, so I did what 99.9999% of do out in the New River Area. I called the truck. The well pump was acting up and I didn't have time to mess with it. (Turns out my static water level is about 92ft- not bad. I'll putz with the pump when I get time) Truck shows up and a me if I had heard about the Phoenix water changes.. Nope! Tells me to google it.. and I do: http://www.azfamily.com/story/36406634/new-river-desert-hills-look-to-water-utility-to-solve-supply-problem In short, Phoenix won't let the trucks fill up anymore. So they would have to go to Peoria or Scottsdale to fill up. A lot farther- and they're talking about 2-3x more than what a truckload of water costs now. It's about $75 now for a fill up. That adds up quick. I hope we find a solution as a community. Kicks in Jan. 1 2018. Either way, I don't like relying on this method. .. going to get a trailer, with my own water tank on it and figure out how to do it myself. Does anyone know if there's a place where you can pay maybe a monthly fee and haul water yourself?

Heard it snowed up there over the weekend?

I have the 7E bull hunt as well.. Really it's going to depend on the weather. I wont bother scouting the unit til mid Nov..
