Should AZGFD eliminate the youth muzzleloader hunt in Unit 16A (Hualapai Mountains)?
Jazz replied to Capt. Don Martin's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
I added my 2 cents. Thanks Don! -
Not sure what you're looking for exactly- with the RV gate. But a Mighty Mule gate will open electronically and you can set it for XX Delay to shut automatically.

Yup. Just south of north mountain, south of table mesa road. About a mile east of the ruins.

I *think* this is the Bull Fire- It's about 1.5 miles NE of New River. Kinda not happy about that at the moment. I was hiking a bit up north of the complex and took a right. I'm hoping they get these under control.

Go to Pending Charges under checking account. Nothing yet or in pending!! Has anybody else gotten drawn and have Desert School Credit union??? Yup. I have Desert Schools- it's a pending charge (not listed). I had to call and get confirmation it was AZGFD

The boys got hit for a Doe Hunt in Nov at Jabobs Lake!

Yeah.. time to buy a Delorme.

Guys, I had no idea. I always thought it was OK to leave the hide on if I had to- and could wait till morning to find it. (Thanks, wonderful hunting shows with false info) I'm really lucky this thread came. I thought you could treat it like a big deer. Having never got an elk, I just didn't know.

I went north of New River on Monday.. and took a final look at the temp before I stepped out. Was going to set up a camera on a few trails, the pack was pretty heavy. Ended up seeing a cam as soon as I stepped out of the truck on a bucket of water buried in a dry water hole. It was hot.

I guess Julie's is worth the wait?

Too many fires at once- this is ridiculous!

Might as well bring him. The bear will smell all three of you, no matter what kind of scentok you're carrying. With bears it's all about wind. Also, I don't think pursuing bears with dogs is illegal? But I don't use dogs for bears.. just patience and altitude.

Wifey leads the way sometimes. She's all about it. Every time I go she tries to take the time off so we can pull it off together. It's not the same without her there on those times that she can't attend. (And she's an awesome bowhunter- actually stalked within 20 feet of a coues) MUCH better than I could have done!

Google Earth is the best. I don't know about the rest of the world, but my unit is updated as of 4/21/17. Pretty recent!! That, and GaiaGPS and Avenza Maps- just about fills my phone. The fact that you can draw on and make way points and routes on the webpages that automatically transfer to the app is a huge bonus. And yeah, it caught the plane flying.

Wow. There was some really awesome country up there. Now that I'm like an hour away from that, I think this will turn into one of my favorite units. Really the first time in the area. Had to turn back to the I-17 because of the fire, but we got a feel for the area. Spent some time in Kinnicikick Lake and that place was great! (Yeah, the trout were biting but I didn't have green powerbait so not for us) I must have seen 30+ elk. Most of them on the side of the roads- and they're not shy. I'm sure they're used to all the traffic. I didn't have a lot of time to put the boots to work, but I'm looking forward to just an overall 2-3 day area camp next weekend to get a better feel for it. Really a fantastic unit.

I haven't done the job yet- but when the time comes I'm taking it to One Stop Truck Shop on University.

I should just move to Flag for the last 6 months of the year! I can't wait to get started! But with 7E, anything before Nov wont matter so much..
-
That road sounds nasty. I might even try it- once- when I don't have to be anywhere quick and if it's dry out. Rebuilding the Yukon- might be a good test.

I put the boys in for a Nov 12A doe hunt this year. The elk hunt takes up most of the buck hunts online in Oct. I dont remember a Nov hunt option last year? We hit it in Oct I think..
-
And, we're bringing jackets. I don't think I've been up there in Nov, but I'm sure snow is a possibility? That is- if we're drawn.

Fair enough and probably accurate and very good info. I still have to ask what would I do if I am 2 weeks away from my hunt and I am in this senerio?Move your cameras about 200 yds. a day until you find out where they are going. Good point. Or, you could get a Plot Watcher, and hook it up high enough over the area to get a "Field" view. You'll see them come in and out of the zone.
