SO. Pulled the trigger- under contract on a house in New River. Everything went pretty smooth- until we got the well report back. Apparently it has Coliform bacteria (The common stuff) and last night I just found out- Arsenic. The well is being treated for the coliform. Knowing nothing about arsenic- I hit google for a few hours. After getting over the initial shock, I realized the a Reverse Osmosis system might just do the trick. (Whole house RO- I have a 9 month old that doesn't need to sip aresnic bathwater) I'm wondering what it's going to do to gardens and livestock. Might have to use the hose directly from the house. Anyone have any experience with this? I love New River- apparently most houses up there have a degree of arsenic in the well water. I can still back out at this point, but if this isn't a huge deal then I can handle it.

It's in a few weeks. It's a fantastic unit, we're really looking forward to it!

The boys cleaned up on the Kaibab doe hunt- they're looking forward to the 18B Javelina hunt. We only have 48 hours to seal the deal this year. I'm pretty confident. Whose heading out there?

Just an update. The arsenic filter works great- we went from 43 PPB to under 1PPB. Can't be happier. Now we just gotta get settled into the new house. Our first night a pack of coyotes set off the dogs as they ran down the street. Heh. New River life!

Best thing in the world!

What an awesome hunt! And quick. Both boys tagged out at 3pm Friday, It was cold- the Wiggys held up pretty good for the boys, and I brought something else and shivered here and there. Met a F&G guy out there by the name of Pierce. Couldn't have asked for a nicer guy to patrol that area! Deer jerky in the dehydrator- 2 more legs to go. I hope everyone scores! (Even the guy that passed my truck and parked at the water hole) And father of the year award- there has to be a nod to the guy in the rented Uhaul Pickup truck with his kid. That's dedication.

I was thinking of doing this. I had no idea there was so much involved. Thanks for posting! -
Last time I checked it was 9 acres. Ok, A few pines went up. No biggie. Now it's 450 Acres and 15% contained. I think my stand melted. http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/5032/

Thanks all, for your replies. We're treating the well for the coliform- and retesting in ten days. I don't want anything to reintroduce bacteria in the well- that's a bug hunt I'd want to avoid. We'll see how it does. The Arsenic test told us that it was 40 PPB- but not which type it is. My understanding is that it's type 5 or 3. 5 being easier to treat with straight RO. Type 3 requires pre-treatment before the RO process. (More costly). I'm getting a sample and submitting Monday. There's currently a RO in the kitchen. I'd probably opt for a full house treatment later.

40 PPB. (billion)

You may want to check out using Rotella ELC Red on the 6.7. Stuff is awesome.

So, I live in Phoenix. Northern part. It's come to the point that we're getting out of the rental and looking to buy a property. I'm seriously considering Camp Verde. (I'd still be working in Northern Phoenix, but getting out of the dustbowl onto a river property is worth the 1 hour commute). Anyone live up there? Are there any downsides to that area? Great town to move to? Looking for a slow and easy lifestyle in the country. I'm done with 31 years of Phoenix.
