Ethan pulled it off. 4pm last day of the hunt and a cow walks up on us at a new area we had good vibes about. Wanna find elk? Take a walk.. This is his last youth hunt. He’s growing up! The interaction we had with the herd was magical and it turned out that baby hoochie got em’ talking after all! Even the bull wanted to play. never had so much fun with a call.

I did. Jerry said he couldn't do 16's. Was pretty bummed. I did get 4 of the Ultima Thule bags. Those are amazing. -10 and couldn't tell.

I can't speak from experience. From some online circles I hear these are hard to beat: The Joe Reddington Mukluks (wiggys.com) I'd buy some but they dont make it in my size.

I'm psyched. Never really went to a rental cabin. Got it for a night in Nov. Might hit the other cabins over the next year just to get away sometimes. I have the 7E late cow- heading up to hobble around this weekend and then do some serious BBQ and scouting when Nov comes around. No electric and drinking water. It'll be just like camping 😃

Good stuff. Especially the knee pads. You totally nailed that one. For some reason, (age??) I knelt down with my right knee for about 2-4 minutes while I was getting the backstrap. Couldn't get up. Couldn't straighten the leg. We were way out there. Took an hour to hobble to the Ranger and get back on the road. Knee pads will be a must. Doc said it was just massively inflamed and I'm living on ibuprofen for a week.

You guys did great. We did 4 days, saw tons of Elk, (How in the heck do you stop the Elk Train? You know, when they just bowl past you and there's like NOTHING you can do to getem to stop) - and did a few sits. Took a few shots. None connected. We're going back on Thursday for a last chance. Wonder how much snow is left..
