Thanks for your comments.  One additional thing that I like on the rifle is the tang safety.  Browning makes a quality product,   It's a great all around rifle..  Bought this as my dedicated elk rifle.  Still waiting for the elusive early rifle bull tag!!!

I saw this and had to chuckle, I feel your pain. I purchased a Ruger M77 Mark II in 300 win mag, 20 years ago, when I started putting in for the “elusive early rifle bull tag”. It sits in my safe unused. If I had known it would take this long to draw, I would have never put it for the early rifle hunt. Sitting on 22 points, maybe 2021 will be the year!

Looks clean. What kinda MPG does that chick magnet get?

This V6 powered chick magnet is rated at 19 in the city, 25 on the highway for an EPA estimated 21 combined. Loaded down with hunting gear, I suspect it will be towards the lower number!

My daughter and I think we saw one in the southeast section of 6A (not far from 5BS) a few years back.  We had been calling back and forth with a turkey when it suddenly shut up.  We stalked up to where it was and thats when we saw the mystery animal.  It was gone in a flash.  Bigger than a coyote, definitely not a deer, elk, turkey, etc.   Maybe could have been a bear but I dont think so.  Only thing left was it was a wolf.  But who knows, it was definitely something dark, big, and fast.

My son and I were archery hunting turkeys this year in 27. Out before sun up, did a couple turkeys calls and had 3 wolves respond. Our first time hearing them in the woods, was pretty cool. Every time we called they would howl, they were on three different sides of us. We decided there wasn’t any turkey around where we were at and hiked back to the Jeep.

How do you know he drew? Youth have no portal. I was under the impression I have to wait for my son to see what comes in the mail.

I was wishful thinking, that’s how I knew! Just kidding, the youths can have a portal account, after a certain age, I think 12 or 13.

  7. My nephew drew a left over youth elk tag for 5A. I have never been there, I'm planning on taking him and his brother up for the youth turkey hunt, so we can get some bearings. I ordered a forest service map and am scouring the net for info.

    Couple of questions

     1. Places to stay or should I plan on taking my camper?

    2. Road conditions, I have been in units 1, 27, 3A. Are the forest roads similar?

    3. Should I contact Clear Creek Ranch for access?

Any other info would be appreciated.

    Thanks
