These 3c rifle deer tags some what confuse me. Kiabab early and late tags are at about the same point level so why would someone pick 3c over the kiabab.

Which is incorrect. You don’t use your current points to determine what your odds are. You can only determine what your odds were last year at the point level you were at last year. You can do some math and take and educated guess on this year if nothing changes (point levels of applicants, no one jumps from a different unit, etc)

You’re both looking at it wrong. You have 10 points this year but you had 9 last year so you have to look at those numbers. If everything stays the same (it won’t) you won’t draw in the bonus pass. 15 tags go to residents in the bonus pass. There were 17 people who had 10 points and had it as a second choice. Not all of them drew their first choice. Then at your point level (9) there were 39 people who were in the bonus pass. No idea how many drew. but you’re not a guarantee to draw in the bonus pass.

You were in the bonus pass for unit 1 last year you were just not lucky enough to beat out the couple other guys. which means you should be guaranteed for the muzzy tag this year and definitely the rifle tag in 2023. “Should” because you never know what could happen. if unit 1 is the tag you have waited 23 years for what’s wrong with waiting out one more draw? 8 points? I think your buddy messed up on his app. A lot of times guys think they know what their choices were but are wrong or don’t know how the draw works and put an elk hunt as a third through fifth choice.

As for corner crossing in az the private has to be posted or be told you can’t be there. I don’t know the landownership boundaries but if one was able to legally access state land, my bet is you could access a lot of private that is not going to be posted within the interior of the property. But the main problem is you’re gonna have to walk and that’s a long ways to get to certain locations.
