Social media for sure! Look at Wyoming. I got on to it because of social media but for the past 4 years the units almost need extra preference point every year because of increase application. On the other hand before social media years ago on a pig hunt. Went with a buddy and his family and were told of this awesome spot and everyone will bag out. We get there and there are hunters camped all over this area. We talked to 2 different camps and they said the same thing we were told. Hunting spots burn up faster then California does. Keep your mouth shut on honey holes, water holes, hunting units in general

For the purpose of taking it to a hunt in Mexico, the caliber must be stamped in the rifle barrel. So as long as its stamped on the rifle we are good right? Mine is a 6.5-270 AI stamp

Im helping a friend out in unit 1 archery. Grew up most of my late summers in there, sadly I never hunted it before. I know the area, and i really want to learn how to do early bull hunts so this is why im going. I know that end of July, Aug and early September there is lots of monsoons and wet. Ive never had a problem with this because I was never there for hunting purpose. Now that Im going and will be running all day through the forest in early morning dew, and monsoon wet grass all day what do you guys use for your early hunts for pants and boots?

Re- read the OP question. He is asking why buy or build a custom rifle when you can spend 400 dollars and get a rifle that shoots really well. There was lots of post why people prefer to build a custom over a factory rifle.

If I was building a race car that could run a 9 sec quarter mile, and do it "consistently" for 10 grand. why would I pay 100,000 grand to build a custom car that did a 9 sec quarter mile consistently. I get the Coach purse mentality.... but why???? have yet to hear a good reason... the work truck compared to the new ford work truck? nope. I have 4 different rifles (6.5 cm, 270 wsm, 300 wsm, and 300 win) that I have had for years that shoot 1/2 moa at 100-1000, and have for many years... not once but ever time I shoot them IF I DO MY JOB..
