Good topic. Most of you old farts are just bitter because let's face it with the internet and multitude of options from custom to upper shelf commercial offerings going 1k isn't that hard do. Personally I wouldn't take an animal from that range unless it was a world class trophy situation., no time, etc...otherwise I'll just get closer. But going 1k makes 600 a layup which is way in my wheelhouse.

lets flip this around. what difference does it make what unit it was killed in? why does not knowing the unit # impact your satisfaction of the story? the guys that draw regularly and have above average success are finding sleeper units/hunts and making a substantive improvement in their odds of hunting/drawing. lots of drama over nothing here folks...move on...nothing to see here

mine went out. i was using one of the GE models that takes salt. it's the 2nd one in 10 yrs...i'm not willing to go that route again. would prefer to stay away from the salt as well. any recommendations?

Hi, i need to dial in my new rig for my upcoming hunt. i'd like to get it setup out to 1000 yards and i heard cowtown range is pretty decent. any opinions on it? what are the costs? i tried calling several times but it keeps going to an answering machine (I sent an email too). thanks

i shoot hornady sst 250 grain with blackhorn powder and magnum primers. i used to shoot the pellets but the blackhorm is way better...easier loading and more accurate. i've shot elk and mule deer very successfully..last muley at 276 yards and he dropped on the spot.

I'm Sick and tired of people on here criticizing when someone does a nice trip, hires a guide, or gets an auction tag. If you have the means go for it. Life's short. I'm not a rich boy but I enjoy the finer things in life and I don't appreciate people making others feel guilty about it. I studied hard, got an engineering degree, got my Mba while working full time (while others were partying and squandering their youth, time, and money) and save my money for things I really enjoy. Don't judge. Be happy for that person. If you're envious get a plan together and make it happen. Rant over.

for those of you with world class tags (elk, strip, bighorn) doing a video like this would be an awesome way to memorialize the experience and share with family and friends. i'm going to do something similar to "tell my story" for my upcoming kaibab rifle hunt.

bump for the 2016 hunters.

never hunted archery on the kaibab. had a blast last year with a smoke pole but am not wanting to wait another 7-9 years to draw another tag. is the archery hunt an absolute zoo up there with all the tags or is it a reasonably good hunt?
