I live on Kodiak Island since 2019. No, I live in town I don't have any plans to go out until the 19th and chase goats which opens on the 20th. Same day flying applies to goats. Last year I shot my bucks on the 19th after flying in and waited until the 20th to shoot my goats.

Had to work late .Air force showed up with 6 F22s. Fueling them and moving personnel took a while. Didn't get out until 6. Glassed the valley from several spots but only found bears. Didn't have time to hit the next drainage. Got back to the plane and there was another sow just below us. Decided to get out before we had to deal with a bear. Nice break though.

I have settled on LA Sportiva, for really steep nasty sheep and goat hunts I have Salewas. Kennetreks rolled my ankles constantly

I killed my buck on the 17th

King salmon I caught yesterday

I saw 40 -60 deer a day on that hunt this past December. I don't think the buck quality was what I was hoping. I saw at least 20 groups of does and looked over the herd bucks good. I saw a group of 17 does that did not have a buck with them. Saw one other group(of people) the whole time. Fantastic hunt.

Don't we go camping to get away from stuff ??

Add meat and it's good

I use my freezer dry stuff a lot when hunting. I freeze dry steaks, crumble them into a meal too make it more substantial. There's a lady in Anchorage that make freeze dry meals. She had one called African peanut stew or similar. It's apparently vegetarian but adding a blacktail steak to it makes it amazing.

Anyone using a chest freezer/generator combo?
catclaw replied to Curtis Reed's topic in The Campfire
I went on an elk hunt back in 2010ish, we camped by Big Lake and stayed about 20 days. We had a big freezer with generator to keep food good. Had 3 hunters, 3 guides and cook in camp. Worked out great. We had a full size commercial kitchen, had range, eating tent, outside awnings, portable corrals. We ran the generator as needed. -
No whining, just responded to post about the sheep tags.

I felt like i had the whole unit to myself I passed at least 10 4x4s that were with does. I don't think there are many 190+ bucks in there. If you see a 180, shoot it. Never saw another hunter

Apparently G&F record keeping is less than perfect.i have indeed applied every year since and including '83. I drew my only antelope tag with 25 points, tag 1. Never have drawn an early rifle bull tag. I did draw a 10 archery bull tag in 08 after having drawn in 23 in 07. Last year i drew 3A-3C December any antlered, certainly my best tag ever.

I'm non resident but have lifetime license

The point system came in way after 83

I have applied for sheep every year since 1983 and i still didn't draw this year, so there's that. I only ever put one choice.

You guys get worked up over something you have no control over. It posts when it posts 🤷

The BTX has a bunch more lenses in it than twin STCs or prominars. They're dark, eye relief sensitive. Poor resolution. I can't stand them. There's a ton of LabRadars for sale too.i wonder why. Something way better came along.
