    Duwane Adams ?

I saw 40 -60 deer a day on that hunt this past December. I don't think the buck quality was what I was hoping. I saw at least 20 groups of does and looked over the herd bucks good. I saw a group of 17 does that did not have a buck with them. Saw one other group(of people) the whole time. Fantastic hunt.

    Anyone else freeze drying?

I use my freezer dry stuff a lot when hunting. I freeze dry steaks, crumble them into a meal too make it more substantial. There's a lady in Anchorage that make freeze dry meals. She had one called African peanut stew or similar. It's apparently vegetarian but adding a blacktail steak to it makes it amazing.

Anyone using a chest freezer/generator combo?

I went on an elk hunt back in 2010ish, we camped by Big Lake and stayed about 20 days. We had a big freezer with generator to keep food good. Had 3 hunters, 3 guides and cook in camp. Worked out great. We had a full size commercial kitchen, had range, eating tent, outside awnings, portable corrals. We ran the generator as needed.

How long until cards are hit??

I felt like i had the whole unit to myself I passed at least 10 4x4s that were with does. I don't think there are many 190+ bucks in there. If you see a 180, shoot it. Never saw another hunter

How long until cards are hit??

Apparently G&F record keeping is less than perfect.i have indeed applied every year since and including '83. I drew my only antelope tag with 25 points, tag 1. Never have drawn an early rifle bull tag. I did draw a 10 archery bull tag in 08 after having drawn in 23 in 07. Last year i drew 3A-3C December any antlered, certainly my best tag ever.

How long until cards are hit??

I have applied for sheep every year since 1983 and i still didn't draw this year, so there's that. I only ever put one choice.

What’s with all the BTX’s for sale?

The BTX has a bunch more lenses in it than twin STCs or prominars. They're dark, eye relief sensitive. Poor resolution. I can't stand them. There's a ton of LabRadars for sale too.i wonder why. Something way better came along.

  22. Glassed across bay. Saw a few bears feeding. Finally found one who looked big Decided he needed a closer look than ¾ mile. Had good wind. Took the boat over. Tied up to some rocks, sneaked down the beach 200 yards to where this toad was feeding on herring roe. Watched him for 20 minutes. Decided i was going to pass. As we started to back out he saw us. He climbed up on the bluff parallel with the beach. Knowing that he was going to try and flank us we headed for boat. He peeked over the edge a couple of times. We came to the creek where we beached the boat and he had a steep trail off the bluff. He stood up and looked at me, pinned his ears back and started down towards me. He was maybe 20 yards. I shouldered and fired. The shot set him back. He retreated and i hit him again. He tried to get down in another spot but it was shear and rocky so he faded into the alders of sight, in the bluff. Went up and found blood. Took 20 minutes to sort the trail out. Went into the alder thicket slowly. After 15 minutes and 20 yards i saw him and made straight to him. Second charge but i hit him immediately. He then turned and went away. dang these things are tough. I circled and got above him and put another one in him. I then closed in and finished him with my 10mm. 2 partitions exited, 2 stayed in, trapped by the skin from exiting. 10mm bullet penetrated 40+ inches. He died in a devils club thicket amidst the alders. Took 6 hours to skin in the tight quarters. The hide was wet and muddy and weighed 180 pounds. 2 of us carried it the 200 yards to the beach. Loaded the boat and headed to camp. Tough, grueling day. One of the shots hit the front of his lower jaw and took out a few teeth. Kinda bummed about that. Took him to town and had him sealed. 9' 6", 28 ⁵/16.
