    Lightweight Riflescope

Any reason not to go 30mm tube and 50mm obj lens? I see those listed quite often on forums well within your price range. I like the wind-plex reticle reticle that they offer as well- dial elevation and hold windage if you need to. If you think you want more magnification- keep your eyes peeled- lots of VX3 (not 'i') model 6.5-20x selling now for relatively cheap as well.

    Wyoming Draw Results Available

wyano--- I drew a doe tag in 108 as well. I won't be up there until early OCT most likely. Are you guys going up for the opener? My buddy has a deer tag that overlaps.

    Arizona hunting license question

And thats how they explained it to me- on the 12th you have to have a valid license in your hand-- if it expires after the 12th and you draw you simply have to have a new license before you start your hunt. I think standman had a pic of the reg.

    Wyoming Draw Results Available

Our group drew together for antelope buck, only two of us got doe tags. No deer tag on what was a guaranteed draw last year... #pointcreep

    Arizona hunting license question

I hope your folks were telling you the truth. I would've bought the licenses just to be on the safe side.

    Arizona hunting license question

Interesting-- Im a Non-Resident and my license expired on the 12th. I called in to check specifically to ensure no hiccups since the day of expiration was the same as the last day of applications. I was told I was good but if it had been the 11th then it wouldn't have been good.

    22-250AI Build

Im a southpaw and working on a rifle that will be a mirror image of the Remington 700 VS-- it'll be a copy of the Gen 1 in short action which lots of folks still call 'sendero' but they aren't technically. Anyways-- cartridge is 22-250AI, barrel length will be 26" @ .830 (Remington Varmint Contour) planning to shoot 75s, 80s and maybe try out the 90s if they'll magazine feed (if I need to add a wyatts extended internal box I'll do that). Barrels that are available: Brux 1-8 Krieger 1-8 Bartlein 1-7.7 or 1-7 (5R rifling) Talk to me on advantages / disadvantages.

I think the guys at APR (and Kampfeld for the bolt) knocked it out of the park for a LH R700 VS replica.

    Wyoming deadline.

It's definitely disheartening, especially for someone late to the game. I'm 34 and have only starting building points across the west about 4 years ago. BC of the non-res changes in AZ I can swing for the fences each year as the points build up. The real question is do I try to hold out for the outside chance or just draw a mid-tier hunt every few years across the states I'm applying in. Which in reality is still going to be an amazing hunt compared to my options now that Ive left active duty and put down roots in TX. Like you said- the mandatory annual licenses and cost of points does really stack up. This is the first year I'm tracking cost in every state for every point, fee, license. Hope WYO treats us all well this fall!!!

    Wyoming deadline.

Headed to wyo hopefully this fall as well-- chasing deer and antelope in lower point units while banking points in higher potential states like AZ, CO, UT--- hopefully WYO can be a deer/lope hunt every 3rd year

Help me decide on a new lightweight stock for my 700

I have a McMillan Edge Game Scout that I'm a big fan of. In a smaller profile you can get to the 28-30oz range I'm sure, especially depending on what recoil pad you go with. I had a take off BC that came off a 700 Mountain SS- the barrel channel was extremely narrow and would probably have to be opened up for even a normal sporter contour. With the McM Edge you can get them inlet for up to a Proof.

Jon Trammel in Breckenridge,Texas does it all. Excellent accuracy smith, phone:254-559-3455. When you fireform seat the bullets well into the lands and work with the bottom load in your reloading book for a standard 22/250. Do two fireforms before working on full loads. I found best accuracy in mine seated into lands at .010". Again I was shooting single shot. I will keep him in mind for the future-- bolt will be headed off to Kampfeld for the jeweling. Picking up some Lapua brass this weekend as well to start loading the fireforming rounds.

    22-250AI Build

I'm picking her up this weekend! Then sending the bolt off for jeweling-- so it'll be another few weeks before I can spend some serious time at the range! Long awaited though!

So she is almost done!! 75gr Amax, 80gr ELDM and 90gr Sierras are on hand. To make this a true replica I need to get the bolt jeweled. Anyone have a recommendation where I can send it off to?

    NFL Draft

Headed over to watch the Day 3 festivities today with a buddy who scored some tickets! Should be an interesting experience. If it's a bust then it gets me to the side of town where my gun shop and Cabelas is!
  24. Shotgun would be typical weapon of choice. Some states allow rifles. Archery is generally permitted everywhere. In the east and south turkey gun trend towards short and compact--- long hikes, tight woods and spending alot of time rested on your knee. I've used 12ga 3 1/2 down to 20ga 2 3/4". Get the bird within range and they will do the trick. I prefer federal heavyweight #6 or hevi-shot #6 for pattern density. I've also had good results (on the pattern board and on birds) with the Winchester Longbeard XR in 12ga.
