  1. For those of you that wear the Sitka/Kuiu/First Lite/ Cabelas Instinct, do you notice any difference in them helping you stay cool in the heat? Hot is hot, especially here in AZ, so I was just wondering if they are as good and efficient as people say they are overall and helping you stay cooler than just a pair of wranglers? Most of the reviews I have read are people looking to stay cool in 65-80 degree temps, easy, we climb past that real quick in the desert. Thanks

  2. I just picked up a new set of binoculars and thought/looked long and hard and what you are talking about. The one thing about the Meopta/Cabelas Euro's 12x is they weigh almost the same as the 15's, if weight matters to you it's something to think about. I don't carry a spotter since I'm not much of a trophy horn hunter and probably never will be so I went with the 15's. The Cabelas Euros have the smallest FOV out of the 15's I looked at also(online at least, I couldn't get my hands on any to look through). Good luck with the search.

  3. You can't really go wrong with any of these choices. You can throw the Razors in the mix as well. I looked through the Zeiss and Cabelas Euro HD's (Meopta) in the store and in those conditions you couldn't tell a difference. Have him put his hands on them and see what feels the and looks the best to him. You can probably find used Swarovski around that price too if you are patient.

  4. i stopped by Ross Outdoors today briefly and shot the Spot Hogg. That's what i was told they all shoot and they prefer. I didn't have much time and wasn't able to compare it to anything, the trigger on it seemed light, to the point I wasn't sure if it was too light. I know the Tru-Fire you can adjust the tension, I was told you can adjust the Spot Hogg as well.

  5. Oh yeah if you go to outdoorsman they will let you go outside and try the binos side by side. I went with 10x50 vs 12 after doing this.

At javi camp I had my 10x50 on a tripod next to 15s. I could pick up the pigs better in mine because of the larger field of view. I could see the pigs dang near as clear in mine as the 15s too.

Just out of curiosity, how far were the Javi you were glassing?

  6. Camerlandny.com is a GREAT place to buy optics and they are sponsor. I buy most of mine from them. They have demo models of the 15x zeiss for sale and you can save a few hundred bucks. Demo models are basicallt new. They are used as display binos is all. Never been out in the field

It looks like some sweet deals. My only down side for this purchase is I have enough in gift cards to come out of pocket less than what the savings would be in this case. Thanks for the link though, it is something to watch.

  7. I just googled them and lots of places have them including europtic and amazon. It would be hard to beat the ergonomics of the swaro and they definitely feel like a much smaller Bino but Zeiss had some great optics and takes care of their customers

I was referring to who might carry them in house to put my hands on but yes, there is definitely more options than just Cabelas to buy from now.

  8. I have a 31 year old pair of Zeiss 15's and ill be replacing them with the new Zeiss 15's. Larger FOV @ 1000 yards than he swaros and i just cannot say that the swaros are $1000 betten than the Zeiss.

To be honest if I would have been able to avoid looking through the Swaros i would have walked out with the Zeiss. I thought the Zeiss looked perfect until the person at the counter said with how close my eyes are together the newest Swaros would probably fit great. I think the Swaros had a more narrow eye cup which may have helped also.

  9. Eagle eyes just as an FYI I got the 2015 meopta catalog not to long ago and they did have the 15x56 hd listed under their own name so they might be available somewhere other then cabelas soon.

I'm interested to see who starts carrying those, if any of the big stores. I haven't heard anything bad about them but also don't know anyone that actually owns them either. I did get to handle the Zeiss and the Swaros last night, like everyone has said the Swaros are better. To me, they seemed sharper, felt better in my hands and up to my face, and the focus wheel on the Zeiss seemed sloppier/faster( I don't know if that is the correct term) which made me prefer the Swaros. Now I have to decide if they are actually $600 better, that is the tougher question. I have the funds for either but $600 is $600.

  10. I appreciate the input. At this point i just need to go and look through them and see how they compare. The Euros may end up being the odd bino out since the lady at Cabelas didn't seem to know when they would be getting any 15x56 in and I"m out in east Mesa, i can look at the other 2 at Sportsmans or even Bass. If anybody out my way has any I could look through sometime let me know, and for that matter if anyone is selling any, let me know, I've got an itchy trigger finger waiting to pull the trigger on something.

    Thanks again.

  11. Get what you can afford and upgrade when feasible. There are really no bargains when it comes to glass but if you watch the classifieds and EBay , etc you will eventually run across a deal that will save you a few hundred dollars.

I got my hopes up this evening because Cabela's had the 15x56slc's in the bargain cave. I got transferred to the optic department and was told there was an issue with the adaptor mount, something was put in backwards and they said now you can only use an actual Swarovski adaptor, but the deal breaker was while she said they are the hd,they are not the newest model, which doesn't fit me. I think they were 1800 if anyone is looking for a pair. The guy acted like he could be talked down a little too.

  12. I got the Ziess and am very happy with them.

Just curious, did you compare them to anything else before you bought them? I have hands held them briefly in the store and wasn't sure if the eye cups were to bulky or not. They look thicker than the swaros so I'm not sure if that would make a difference or if I would just get used to what I have.
