I've done it with venison on multiple occasions. Its not difficult and you can put your own twist on ingredients and seasonings.

Sweet man, lets do it. I haven't been home to be able to go out yet in AZ. You going back to KS this year? I just got back from NE/SD last week. Did good on sharpies/chickens and pheasants. JJ is tuned up as he's gonna get. I'm out for work this weekend, but after that i'm pretty much free and ready to hunt here in AZ! -
Interesting Mallard Hen

I have no idea what the actual occurrence is, but it is not very common, no. -
Dusky Blue Grouse
brademan76 replied to Couzer's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Yep, ruffed meat is very light colored and quite good-similar to a pheasant. Dusky though is very dark and strong. Some guys swear if you can kill them when they are young and at lower elevations before they've moved up into the pines/spruce, they can be similar to a ruffed. But that hasn't been the case in my experience. -

Its called a "blonde" colored bird. You see it in all sorts of birds. Similar cause as a piebald or opposite of a melaninistic bird. -

What ammo for quail
brademan76 replied to MULEPACKHUNTER's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Come on, I can't be the only one who uses 3" #5 winchester supremes?? -
Too bad about the bear you shot at. One you'll be kicking yourself for a long time, surely. So whats the story with the rest of the hunt? Sounds like an unfortunate experience all around with the people trying to interrupt your hunt. I'd be demanding to come back for a free or discounted hunt with him not doing something about it... did he call the Canadian rangers/wardens? In the states that would be completely illegal, but not a big deal up there? Is that scat in your hand? How was the fishing (other than the one eater walleye)?

Maybe he should be posting in the M4M personals section instead

I wouldn't let a dumbass law keep me from protecting myself or my family. If you're properly concealing, no one will know it. In the event that you get pulled over, the cop shouldn't need to ask if you're carrying a firearm, and if he does ask, lie. Yes you run the risk of legal trouble, but if I'm not mistaken it isn't a felony. Then you'll also have an excuse to never go back to California. Carry on.

congrats! Cool area and nice bear!

They look just like this but in a generic camo pattern. Don't forget to pick up a pair of hunting boots the next aisle over too:

Bird Dog Boots?
brademan76 replied to KaibabHunter's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
This method works pretty good and its what I started doing toward the end of last season. Boots are expensive and get worn out or thrown off too often in the desert. https://youtu.be/f6nlipXdB6s -

Since there is little to no enforcement of game laws and the guys who are out there hunting witness laws being broken ALL THE TIME (I get it, funding and therefore personnel are extremely limited), is there any chance that G&F or FWS (heck, even county LE) could "deputize" people to help with enforcement? Obviously there would be a steep learning curve for those people, and the vetting process to determine who would be qualified would be somewhat involved. I'm sure with our convoluted judicial system, there would be lots of challenges, and probably too much additional liability for those entities with the deputies that it would never get off the ground. Surely someone who has been around a lot longer than I or with a background in LE can punch lots of holes in this idea... But, wouldn't it be nice knowing that the hunter on the next ridge could legally ask to see your license and write you a ticket for being on a closed road, etc? Sure would make me feel a little more warm and fuzzy knowing the wonderful resources we have are being a little better protected and hopefully cutting back on some of the riff-raff.

That's how I would prefer it, actually. Personally, I think the felt border in any color looks fruity.
-
Common theme being stated here is that there isn't enough manpower to enforce... one warden to a unit, the time it takes for one to show up to a call, etc. They are spread too thin and there isn't enough budget to hire more. Obviously we all know about operation game thief and reporting violations, but we all also know that only a fraction of those reports ever result in any punishment of the offender.

Sounds like a real power-hungry, bullied, jerk. Sorry for your experience.
