    Who is ready???

Always ready for bird hunting but too hot to put too much energy into thinking about. Wake me up from my summer hibernation in November.

    New Zealand 2016 (pic heavy)

Beastly critters! NZ sure can grow them big! The fallow is really a jaw dropper. The history of that mutt of a country is really interesting. I'll be back to NZ sometime for a DIY tahr and chamois hunt.

    Rifle Appraisal

Asking about the bore, I'm asking when you shine a light down it, is it still bright with good rifling, or is the rifling worn/hard to make out and is there corrosion? Looking at the the closer photos, my guess is at least that the wood has been refinished, possibly the metal too-just comparing finish on hammer vs rest of receiver. Considering any refinish, the drilled holes, caliber (seems somewhat rare), the serial number/date of manufacture, etc. I'm going to say it will appraise under $4k. BUT, I honestly have zero qualifications, and I hope if appraises for $10K! Good luck and let us know!

    Rifle Appraisal

Beautiful rifle! As far as you know or can tell, is the rifle all original or has it been refinished at all? Can you share a couple more photos of the finish on the receiver and barrel? How's the bore look?

My brother posted this on facebook some time ago and when I read it, it really caught me good and I laughed really hard!
  10. Great looking pup, awesome that you can get him on waterfowl like that! That Eurasian wigeon is FRICKIN SWEEEEET!

    This won't end well

Yes, in part because of that high price tag. All of these television shows on History, Nat Geo, Discover, Animal Planet that are glamorizing/dramatizing AK in general, and a couple specifically around the bear hunting, are really driving up demand- mostly by very wealthy "hunters" wanting to keep up with the Jones' who are often very "green" and really, have no place on the hunts from a physical/mental preparedness standpoint. I know I may be jumping to conclusions a bit saying that the host of Triple D falls within this category, and that he is in Russia, not AK, but I'm also going to assume I'm not far off.

    This won't end well

Depends on your definition of a "hunter". AK Brown bear is becoming a really "trendy" hunt.

    Tagged out! Pic heavy

What species do you believe you're killing there? They look mostly like easterns but a couple almost look like rios in the collage.

    Train to Hunt 2016

You hauled 100# on your back for 3.5 miles?? The TTH website says the meat carry would be a 1-2 mile course and the weight would be "assigned". What was the weight based on?

    DIY Axis Deer

Very cool! Good luck! The wind isn't going to make it easy on you for a long shot. Hopefully you are able to close the distance if you are able to spot some axis.

    Shot lion-need help tracking

And if the elk you intend to kill disagrees, takes off after the shot and gets into somewhere you can't drive to??

    Shot lion-need help tracking

Cool idea on the cat burrito and congrats. Hopefully you aren't an elk hunter if you couldn't hike that kitty out of there on over your shoulders or on a pack frame.

  21. Don is an awesome guy and an absolute pleasure to share a blind with, he couldn't be more deserving of his Royal Slam!! Great work all around.
  22. Great boots, just a hair too big for me. I need them to be perfectly sized for the hunting I'm planning to use them for. I can return to Cabela's but figured I'd offer for a good deal here first. SIZE 12 EE (wide) Regular price is over $350, I'll let them go for $200. Purchased early January from Cabela's. Have worn a total of 5 days so they are just about broken in. No significant wear- I can text photos if you are seriously interested. http://www.cabelas.com/product/cabela-s-124-meindl-men-s-200-gram-alaskan-hunter-trade-boots/1995551.uts I'm in the Laveen/Avondale/Glendale area regularly.
  23. 12 in Meindl's or another brand? You may be surprised with the room in these.
