Yes... he knew the chances of running into a bear were high. He should've packed something with a bigger punch.
-
LOL.

Yes... there are some very cruel and corrupt people out in the world. But dogs... are innocent, loyal, and a blast to have around. They will follow you to the very end. I am not looking forward to when my dogs are forced to "retire." I never had to deal with the death of a pet yet.. Let alone, my german shepherd/husky mix is not just a pet but like my first child and only son I have.

WOW.. Kudos to this guy. That is straight up crazy. I like to carry my 1911 but after hearing this story I might even leave a backup mag ready...

Just curious if peroxide would help... my old shetland sheepdog ingested rat poision awhile back and the vet had us pour peroxide down my dog's throat to induce vomitting. Was unpleasant but saved her life. Not sure if this would work the sameway.

I'm getting excited for Dove season!!!!

I still see them around the area, I'm hoping the majority I saw last time will come back. I believe I found a spot where they actually perch before and after feeding. I just hope these dang storms don't ruin it.. haha -
I won't actually go into it in depth but its all a principle of physics. Two items dropped at the same height will hit the ground the same time no matter the weight of the object since gravity is a constant and equal force. The arrow is "dropped" once shot and will hit the ground at the same time just like a bullet. However, the arrow does deflect air causing resistance which may slightly impact the duration of flight. Overall, it's minimal. I believe Myth busters did a cool episode on a bullet travel and when it will hit the ground. Either way, it's always a good practice to practice in the similar environment you are going to hunt if you can. Otherwise, I wouldn't give it too much concern.

Sounds about right

haha well crap is right ! That's pretty much how I feel. But either way, I figured if I just keep pushing myself to walk, hike, lift weights, something will always be better than nothing. I think once I lose about 20 pounds I may start to attempt to jog.. for the sake of getting some cardio in.
-
What would be good "cardio acceleration" ? I'm unable to jump or run because of my knees.. squats are possible but I have to be very cautious and careful. I used to be able to have access to a pool but nothing like that now. It has been a challenge trying to be active in despite of my knees. However, I'm willing and ready to push myself to see if I can lose most my weight and rebuild the muscle around my knees to protect myself from future injury
-
I'm going to walk and do strength training during the week and then try to go on a longer hike during the weekends. I've lost 5 pounds so far just changing the way I eat. Just 81 more pounds to go.. (sigh)

Amazing pictures with a ton of clarity! Wow.. Thanks for sharing
-
Well worth the risk! Good luck.

Yes, we are relatively close. I would love to try and start a routine. Start small and build our way up to something big. I've been wanting to do this for awhile but it can be a challenge to get the motivation to do it.. especially in this dreaded heat. I think if I had another guy suffering with me, I would feel a bit better.. haha
-
I'm willing to get out with a few others to exercise/workout. My only downfall is that I can't jog/run.. I have been trying to do long hikes/walks. If anyone wants to join or has a good idea to get some exercise in nearby.. feel free to share. I can't afford a gym membership but I do have basic weights at home.

Lol... that's what I do. With the right sleeping system, sleeping nude actually takes your body heat and radiates it back to you. Feels like a dang oven in there.. haha

Awesome pictures and some great crappies. well done!

OMG that is beautiful! *tear in eye*

Bear Calling Seminar this Tuesday, August 2nd
TonyC replied to kidso's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Anyone able to get a video/audio of it? -
Congrats! Your hard work and persistence has definitely paid off. Not a lot of people will suffer and persist through their hunt after a bit of hardship.

You know, It's great to be able to do the things we love but it's a blessing to be able to do them with family and friends.
-
Bonus points and a tag?! Sounds like you won the real lottery

the tag that almost didn't happened

I have met a few; they definitely seem to be "offguard" or on the irritable edge before you even meet them.. haha However, normally after a light conversation and a joke to break the ice, they turn into good quality people that most hard working men and women are. -
Chris... you're an awesome guy and a great hunter. I am honored to have a friend like you. One of my most memorable moments was when I was able to go out with you scouting for my javelina hunt; You shared some much knowledge about not only javelina but all sorts of neat things that I never knew. Thanks buddy.
