zackcarp replied to atwoodbeer's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
@atwoodbeer, what did you end up doing? -
I know its still a ways out, but post your scouting trips and results of your hunt. We like hunting stories here.

I work out side for a living and I didn't want to spend top dollar on rain gear I would use a few times a year. So I bought Colombia brand rain jacket and pants and havnt looked back.

So 3 Governor's tags? What are we, Utah?!

As a kid I loved walking through the walk in to see all the cool bucks and bulls. Some would have gigantic holes from 300WM and the like. The occasional Buffalo was cool too.

Unless he said delivers to Tucson, but I thought he said they had a plant there.

I was getting some hams cured in Wilcox at the beginning on the year and they told me they had a place in Tucson, which was news to me. But not sure if this is it either.

I grew up in the Slaughter business and I wanna say I've heard the name Southwest before. I've never heard anything bad bout them. Edit: Miller's in Queen Creek is called Southwest 🤦♂️. Not sure if its related.

2 kids hunting 35a deer/javelina help!
zackcarp replied to Dadof3's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
35A has a very good deer population. But it can be very thick. Target acquisition practice is a must. If you are glassing, have your shooting set up ready, bc you may only have a minute or so to shoot. Mule deer are very pocketed in the unit, so I'd just focus on Coues. Y'all will have a blast. I thought ADA does a youth camp for this hunt in Sonoita, am I wrong? -
This is exactly what you'd need.

Muzzys can be as complicated as you want or as simple as you want. .50 cal is your most common. But the newer long range guns are coming in .45. Guys who do a lot of elk hunting us .54. Most powders are synthetic. Pyrodex and Triple 777 powders are popular. Most people don't realize how much maintenance is involved with a muzzleloader. Most modern guns use a 209 shotgun primer as the ignition source. But cap primers are still common. Projectiles include round balls, conical (lead slugs), and sabots. In all honesty, if you don't have anyone face to face to teach you or help you, you tube will teach you a lot. But I would definitely say, shoot one before you decide that is a route you want to go.

How bad is the southeast getting? (hunting pressure)
zackcarp replied to 180ls1's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
Some years yes and some no. But there is a lot of "extraterrestrials" walking around those units these days. -
My wife drew the October hunt this year.

Thank God, and keep praying it keeps up.

Working some loads for some new rifles. Let me know if you have some to spare. Located in Sierra Vista but go up to the Valley a couple times a month. I also have 1 box of 7mm 162 ELDMs I can trade. Thanks.

Field & Stream Article on Arizona Trail cam ban
zackcarp replied to SirRoyal's topic in The Campfire
Trail Cameras are used by much more than just hunters. But unfortunately he is right. For some reason, some people feel like they are judge, jury, and executioner and will take this matter into their own hands, which is illegal.- 74 replies

I'm sure there are at least Turkey tags left over. Like said above, should be up on Monday with all the mailing details.

Yeah, I hear Coloradans complain about Texans all year long. And honestly, when I hunted it I only met NRs, but none from Texas ironically.

He does send me an email from time to time addressed to my first name... just sayin.
