I will be taking either my 13 year old daughter or my 11 year old son. I'm thinking either 22 or 23. Kinda hope my daughter got drawn. My son got to be with me on an elk and a deer harvest. My daughter went on an elk hunt with me and hiked for two days and sat for hours in the cold and never complained once. Having a bunch of kids is tuff but at least someone should get drawn for elk in my house from this point on almost every year. And I'm definitely gonna check out the youth camp.

So this is 1st big game hunt? Very cool, and in your own backyard 19a Yep, first big game hunt ever for me. the cool thing is I fly helicopters all over 19a about 4 to 5 hours a week. I'm gonna be scoutin big time from the air. Just make sure you look up once In awhile. You don't wanna do what I do when driving back roads looking out the window In a helicopter.

Glassing with a legend - DuWane Adams Glassing Class
CatfishKev replied to CatfishKev's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
heck pretty much do it whenever. He will probably have you go to San Manuel. I stayed in a little motel there and he picked me up early. -
I'm gonna love it!! It seems like God has been closing and opening all the right doors lately! This is just one more blessing.

Glassing with a legend - DuWane Adams Glassing Class
CatfishKev replied to CatfishKev's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
No I got them for around $800. I'm just saying that people don't NEED to drop crazy cash to be able to find deer. -
If we all admitted our worst mistakes we'd really some like a bunch of doofuses. I've done something stupid with a gun on two occasions. Which is completely opposite of how I usually am but both times drinking was involved. I now never clean or do anything with guns if i've been drinking. I even made my wife stop carrying her gun with her because she would just leave it sit in her purse where the kids could get it. I would rather her go unprotected if she can't be responsible enough to keep it out of reach of the kids and have an accident happen. As far as the gunsafes, my kids know if they even touch a button on it it's an automatic butt beatin.

Glassing with a legend - DuWane Adams Glassing Class

I just bought the pair of kaibabs that were listed in the forums here. They seem just fine, actually the leupy 10/17's are ok too but start to suck in low light at 17 power. If I was the type of dude that could afford the Swaro's I'd get them but honestly i'm sure I could get by with $500 glass just fine. -
When I first started hunting I read a book about butchering livestock and game. I was under the impression heart n lung shots also helped with removing blood from the rest of the body because it has a place to collect in if you damage the arteries.

So I've Gotten to the point where I want to make a major change in my life. I own my own company but I'm sick of the stress of running it not to mention the issues with employees etc. I have a friend that I can work for making more money as a sub where I just go do the work and don't have to run the biz side of things. His work slows down from oct. to jan. And since my dream job would be to be a guide I feel like I'm ready to give up my company go work for my buddy and guide during the winter. I've been looking into guide schools and I'm perfectly willing to pay to learn as much as possible in a short time but is it really worth it? I've seen ads for guides wanted where the outfitter is willing to train so would I be wasting my money? For the record I do know how to hunt, I've killed a few elk and several deer, however I know nothing about packing or horses and and love to learn anything that I can.

Glassing with a legend - DuWane Adams Glassing Class

$300 but if you consider the cost of gear and going home empty handed (especially on a far away hunt) it's well worth the investment. I have myself, my wife and 2 kids of hunting age that I need to help fill tags for. Not to mention three more coming up behind them. Btw I wanted to mention this in the original thread and forgot. Before getting the 15's I had a pair of Leupold switch power 10-17's. I was able to glass up deer before with these but it was always free hand. I'm pretty decent at picking up the deer when they are visible but was amazed the difference when using the tripod and the 15's together. The first night out after the glassing lesson I came home to SV and took the wife and kids out to the Huachucas. My confidence level already skyrocketed and I knew I'd find some deer. I knew right where to go based on what DuWane had told me. We were out for about an hour. Me and my wife started glassing and she picked up the first deer and the first buck (I was seriously impressed and high fived her). Till it was all said and done we found 17 deer in less than an hour and two were bucks. Not trophy quality but good enough for the kids tags (I kinda want to set the bar low with the kids first deer so they don't get bored with it). The next morning I went back out by myself and found about 30 deer, 3 pigs and a skunk. 5 deer were bucks. Needless to say with the class and the 15's in my arsenal I am stoked for the upcoming season. -
For anyone finding themselves in the position I was when I first posted this thread I now believe DuWane Adams apprentice program is the best way to go for arizona. After doing a glassing class with him and getting a good feel for the kinda dude he is I feel confident that this is the way to go for anyone interested in guiding in arizona. Also the comments about volunteering to help out on hunts is also what I plan on doing. DuWane hooked me up with a local guide that i will help out and had a couple generous offers from some guys here which I hope to take them up on. Thanks everyone for your replies.

Archery kill or maybe poach?
CatfishKev replied to cbarber13's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I can't possibly solve this mystery, we'd better call in the hardly boys. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lcHy8xEt2QI -
It's not his fault. He's troubled, she practically forced him to put the gun to her head. POS

Anything going on this weekend? Looking to kill some time.
CatfishKev posted a topic in The Campfire
Me and wife are making our way up to the valley this weekend from Sierra Vista, it will be our last chance to get out away from the kids before she gives birth to #5. Were gonna check out Cabelas but also trying to find something interesting to do or check out while were up there. Any events going on or something really cool worth checking out? Any place to eat thats got something unique about it. Keep in mind she's ready to pop so walkin around a whole lot in the sun might not work. PS: Anyone from PA that could recommend a legit cheesesteak or pizza place? -

I looked up those fish they're really nice. They kind of have similar body shape to mollies. Are they aggressive like the african cichlids? I'd like to have a colorful tank thats non aggressive. I like the cichlids for their color but hate seeing them kill each other. What are they like to take care of maintence wise? -

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I tried Fore fathers it was awesome. Woke up with a hangover sunday morning disappointed I didn't get to try Barro's pizza. Then my wife informed me that we did in fact have it and that i was a real pain in the arse last night. Thats what happens when you quit drinking then decided to "let loose" one night. It's literally the only time in my life not remembering the night before. I tried some of the leftover which was good but not my style. I made it to cabelas and they have a crap ton of vortex scopes for like $300 off sticker price (bargain cave) if anyones interested. They also had a pair of razor 10's for like $800 and a pair of leicas for $1200 I think. Not bad. -

Thanks everyone. My wifes ears perked up over the candy factory. Lots of good food options, we stayed in a hotel near sky harbor once and the only menu in the room was for Rossatis. Thats pretty close to what I miss from home, not perfect but pretty darn good. I will have to stop by each place and get at least a slice, I've been on a 15 year mission to find the best pizza. Tried the fish event link and it's not lettin me in, says "forbidden". The store ones worked, we will have to check them out.
