A3 has a reputation for blocking roads, checking others cams and deleting them, several guys on several ridges walking one hunter in to kill, driving in wilderness areas, telling other hunters "we saw you watching that buck, we have a high paying client coming in to kill that buck, go find another one", crossing unit bounderies to kill big animals etc. Even recently heard how they supposedly found the jimmy john bull and if its true its even more disgusting then all the things listed above. I have never heard any of these things about Wards.

Yeah the few shows i thought portrayed hunters like that was 20 years ago so maybe that comments out of date. Rinella definately filled a void though in hunting tv world and is now somewhat mainstream being on netflix so i think a lot of non hunters have watched it.

Meateater was the first show to make hunters look like we are all not drunken rednecks that kill just for horns. Sorry but hes done better for hunter relations then any other hunting show ive seen.

Yeah glassing midday sucks unless you have a nice steep north slope with access to water. As far as op goes in a southern unit i say glass and sit water while everyone else is BSing around camp.

To each their own I guess. But the ones i want never seem to walk in all dilly dally tho. Havent honestly hunted enough other species to say whether thats true or not. But i dont really suppose you are wrong i guess. In my experience coues will water mid day if they can do so while still staying in relative cover to get there. So if im gonna sit water i will definately sit it if it is close to cover, otherwise i wont. But still i hate sitting.

Must be why you dont like coues hunting so much. Glassing imo is the funnest part of hunting. I actually find it therapeutic after a shitty day.

Yeah if it was a northern unit i might say sit. But a southern unit during the rut i would definately be glassing. If you want to sit in the middle of the day when most people are sitting at camp then do that but i say glass all the way.

Sitting effin sucks! Glass from dark to 10am, then sit water if you feel the need and go back to glassing between 2 and 3. Especially in January. Sitting water and salt is mostly a summer game. What unit?

Seems a personal preference question. Youth hunt for sure a shooter. Outside of that i think any buck bigger then the biggest the hunter has killed should be a shooter. Ive killed a couple big bucks but if hes in my shooting lane with a bow in my hand id let an arrow fly.

He was lucky! Another hunter told me about a father and son treestand humting back east. Dad shot a buck and called his son, buck gored the dad and the son found both the buck and his pops dead. Super sad.

No experience with maven but also look st meopta and tract optics. All reviews ive seen align tract right up with meopta. Meopta wont have new 12s or 15s inventory until after new years but for the money i would look hard at tracts 15s and 12s. They sell directly to consumer and have quality glass.

I always thought wool was king when it came to clothes. Do synthetics keep you warm when wet? Also when it comes to buying synthetics what do you recomend? I used to wear cotton socks everyday in normal life then wore a merino liner on the last hunt. I couldn't believe the difference in how my feet felt. Now I buy moisture wicking socks but it seems they are still no match for the wool socks.
