How do you nuke an old salt lick?

That's exactly why I won't post his picture or anything like that and am really on the fence about what to do. I'd absolutely hate to roast someone and then find out I'm wrong. Or mess up their hunt.... I'm p.o.'ed about losing a $100 camera, but I got a lot of years worth of picture out of it. Guess that's just the price of intel. I'll be back up there in a week or so and I think I'll leave the guy a note with my number and ask if he saw anyone else out there or if he maybe thought it was abandoned or something.

How do you nuke an old salt lick?

As already stated, the person seems to have stolen my camera and then later on put his up on the same tree mine was taken off of. Hard to feel great about sharing with a guy that's already helped himself to your personal property. Now, had he just put a camera up on another tree, or heck even right above mine on the same tree, I'd have no issue with that. It's public land, and a pretty good hike. Kudos to anyone that finds it on their own. I think it's the he'll just take my stuff and push me out kinda attitude that gets my panties twisted. And I'd love to take my ball/camera and go home, but he already took it... Welcome to the site.

Sounds like fun in its own right, but I’ve never been much of a predator hunter. Probably would have better luck shooting a Sasquatch. i found this stuff on amazon that says it’s all natural, long lasting, organic biodegradable blah blah blah etc etc. says six pound bucket is enough to cover 5400 sq ft and has good reviews. I’m thinking to try that. Should make sure nothing shows up for his elk hunt but wear off by next year so my fawns and does will still have the spot. plus, like I said before, that spot usually isn’t much for a rut hunt anyway, but it’s not a bad spot for November bull hunts. The more I think about it, I Want to chase this guy off but not totally ruin the spot.
  4. Good luck GG. There's been so much rain they're probably getting plenty from the browse and don't need to water but every few days. That'll allow them to range pretty far, especially the muleys.

HOw big of a dik do you have to be to rip down someone else's camera and then slap your own up on the same tree?! What a jackass. I can't prove it's him, but as I said, in 12 years I've never even gotten a picture of another hiker/hunter or seen anyone near there in person. Seems pretty long odds that it was someone else that stole my camera and then this guy shows up later and puts his own up totally unaware.... Took every ounce of restraint I had to keep from putting a 9mm round through his.

LMAO! I'm liking option 3, but still..... I've been told they won't go near the bleach smell, but I don't feel right about pouring chemicals on the ground in the forest. Plus it's probably a little on the illegal side... Amazon has a lot of deer repellent products that are organic & biodegradable. Maybe I'll just try some to that stuff. I didn't see the guy during deer season or get any pictures of him, so I'm pretty sure he's scouting for elk. Little does he know, there will be no elk there during the rut anyway, so really I don't need to do anything. The spot won't produce and he'll most likely give up.

    Desert Buck Growth

That's one awesome forky. He could wear my archery tag if you don't want him.

Heck Yea 2018 *New Huntress Update*

Congrats! Better master the art of cat-naps, your nights just got busy! Good stuff.
  11. Heck, 12 pointers are hard just to find much less kill. Think the most I've seen in person is a 10.
  12. Stick with it GG. You know the game, it's long hours that gets it done. If you're not going to shoot one of those muleys, try to get a picture at least por favor???

    My buddy's BIG forky

Isn't that a cool lookin buck? I'm pretty envious of him, but nobody deserves it more than Jeff. Good guy, and you'll never meet anyone that loves hunting or hiking more. A well earned trophy.

Can you ID these two wonderful individuals in 7E?

I have no idea where your IQ is, but I've read enough of your stuff to think your "common sense" score is probably higher than normal. Don't feed the troll Woody, there's no profit in it.

American Hero passes. John Sidney McCain III

There is no such thing as a perfect person, McCain included. You can chose to either remember his shortcomings or his virtues, take your pick. Or you can remember that none are all good or all bad, we all lie somewhere in the middle ground. RIP senator. God bless & heal your family.

    Filled tag

Nice shooting! Congrats on your mule deer.
  18. I passed a couple small button bucks & had a bear cub directly under my stand on opening morning. Buddy killed a big fork horn coues buck on day 3. Looks like he was a pretty old genetic forky. Stud deer.

    Teach me about stabilizers

Most of the stabilizers you see on hunting how’s are absolutely useless. The reason why is they are either too short and/or not heavy enough. There’s a reason why target archers have ridiculously long stabilizers on their bow: it’s called leverage. A few ounces on the end of a 24” stabilizer can work wonders for locking you in on target. The same amount of weight on an 8” stabilizer gives only 1/3 the resistance to torque or pin float, so you would need to triple the weight to get the same benefit on the 8” stabilizer. if you like beestingers, you can get additional weights for them and add it to the front end. If you over do it though, the bow will tend to dip to the front at the release which messes up your follow through. In this case you would need side bars towards the rear to counter it, which also helps in aiming but makes you bow pretty heavy. I’ve personally noticed little difference in my shooting with and without one at close ranges, 30 yards and less. I notice a difference at 40 and the difference for me is tangible at 60+. I’m using a heavy setup though, for my treestand bow I have an 8” stinger with 2x sims weights and 2 of the beestinger disks for a total of 7ounces on the end at a total length of about 10”. On my long range bow I have 6 ounces of weight mounted on a 10” stinger for a total length of about 12”. Shooting both bows with the beestingers as sold I noticed no significant difference compared to shooting without a stabilizer, I had to add about 3 ounces of weight to really see it. More weight would probably help, but I’m unwilling to add side bars or back weight to a hunting bow and the way I have it setup now, my bow does not tip in any direction, it just drops at the release. My suggestion would be get a beestinger or cabelas carbon fiber one that has the 1/4-20 threaded weight disks and experiment with it til you find what works best for you. The beestinger ones only come with 3x 1 ounce disks, but the cabelas one comes with 6 of them so you have more weights you can fiddle around with. The cabelas does not have the vibration dampening rubber boot on the end like the beestinger does though. You can buy a beestinger and then get some extra weight disks on amazon pretty cheap

    Seeing The Pins

Don’t overthink it. Just get the pin in the general area and let her rip! i used to see the pin fine but the target was blurry. Shooting with glasses was a pain, contacts were hard to deal with when camping with dirty hands.... So I had lasik. Now I can see the target but the pin is blurry. 10 years later, I can’t see either. Screw it, I’m buying a gun!

    trail cams...NOT FAIR CHASE

When you "scout" tanks that have dirt roads leading directly to them you kinda have to expect that some other lazyasses will also be "scouting" that area. I don't remember the last time I saw another person's trail camera in my area. Park the UTV & put some miles on your boots, I promise most of your hunting problems will melt away.

BLM Proposes permanent road closures in western AZ

I was thinking state trust land when I wrote that. If it’s federal land, I think it’s safe. Never heard of the feds selling dirt, but who knows when there’s money to be made.

BLM Proposes permanent road closures in western AZ

Road closures come first, then comes the report stating how little use the land gets, then the suggestion that those lands should be sold off to fund public education. If they’re any where close to a town, those hills are about to have hoa housing developments all over them, not cattle.
