Couldn't tell you about desert mulies, but I've had very little luck getting the bucks to consistently hit it in the high country. Seems like if they happen to be in the area, they'll hit it hard for a day or two, then wander away usually to never be seen again. Does and fawns don't cover that much ground though (especially when the fawns are little) and they can be on it daily through the summer and into the fall until the rut starts. Only way to know for sure is to sit it for a few days. Good luck!

Way to go! Congrats to those young coues slayers! Too cool.

Good. They deserve it. They’re nothing but clowns who get paid to juggle and amuse a crowd. They need be reminded of their place from time to time.

Congrats to him! Awesome muley!

Man you have some nice ones showing up. Seems like a really good turn out after only five days.

Now THAT is how you solicit an invitation.

Modern Bows Short Brace Heights Question
mattys281 replied to Heat's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
If you're up on the west side of town, you can stop by my place in Avondale if you want. I have everything needed. I may take you up on that someday! Anytime, glad to help. I have no life and spend most of my time working in the shop anyway, it would be a good break in the monotony. -

Modern Bows Short Brace Heights Question
mattys281 replied to Heat's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Have you taken it to an archery store or range and had one of the staffers watch you shoot? I had a heck of a time getting one of my old bows to tune and it turned out to be how I was gripping the bow. Adjusted my grip a little and just like magic: perfect holes. Turned out the way I was pressing the palm of my hand into the grip was causing it to torque on release every time giving me a consistent sideways tear that nothing would fix. -
Modern Bows Short Brace Heights Question

I shot a diablo with the nrg came. Great bow! As you said, not that fast, but super accurate and very forgiving. Light weight too. There's some good articles on archery talk about tuning for cam lean. Doesn't require anything more than twisting the cables. I personally don't bother with it as long as I'm getting a bullet hole in the paper with both fletched and bare shaft arrows. -
Very cool! Good for her.

24B suggestions for Oct rifle hunt
mattys281 replied to curtimus's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Big unit with some nice bucks & lots of good spots. You'll have plenty of company on anything that vaguely resembles a road, I'd find a good spot to hike in somewhere. I've shot a few in that unit, none were in easy spots. Good luck. -
Modern Bows Short Brace Heights Question
mattys281 replied to Heat's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
The primary problem I remember having with very short brace height bows of years ago (pse g force for one example)was wrist slap. With string stoppers that is now a thing of the past. That having been said, there still is a real tunability issue with bows that have too sharp of a string angle, which can either be from short axle to axle lengths, short brace height or a combination of the two. Manufacturers have gotten around this in large part by goin with larger diameter cams. This can not only increase the string angle, but also generate a faster smoother shot. Older 'speed bows' were harsh on the draw cycle and the cams had some very creative and aggressive profiles to them. there is a lot of math and techy nerd speak that could be used, but in short they are just different animals now. That having been said, I've purchased two different brand new top shelf fancy dancy bows in the last five years, and both ended up on the closet shelf before eventually going to eBay while I continue to shoot and kill deer with my 2008 black ice. I guess it just feels right. -
Congrats! He's an awesome bull.

I can't see how getting private citizens to follow and/or interfere with armed people in the process of committing crimes is going to end in anything other than lawsuits and 7 figure settlements for the families of dead "deputized" people. As a taxpayer, I say no thanks, let's leave it to the professionals. If you see something call it in. If you think you might like to interfere, you should think long and hard about the possible consequences first. Bad stuff is known to happen and holes sometimes get dug out in the middle of no where.

Very cool. thanks for sharing -
The reaction to that was a bit surprising to me. I guess I'm just a ignorant, sexist/racist/misogynist/blah-blah-blah/whatever, but I really thought seeing something like that would bring people together, not piss them off. Made me happy for a second. Weird world we live in & getting weirder by the minute.

Had the same thing. Happen to my mule deer. There was a book case under it, so I thought the cat was jumping on it and knocked it down. I moved the book. See so kitty could not reach it and a couple months later it was back on the floor anyway. As already stated: STUD! If there isn't one in the right place then mount it somewhere else. Save yourself a heart ache (and your kitty a trip to the humane society for a crime he didn't commit).

Your dollar is your vote on every such issue. it is important and lots of others will do the same.... at least for a little while. A lot of users on archerytalk are also claiming they're done and boycotting. One stuffed his target with his steelers jerseys and shot it up. Nice! Its kind of funny to me, I've worked about four weeks straight since my last day off and was whining over it with the wife tonight at dinner. I ended the whine fest with something along the lines of 'it gets old, but still... you gotta thank god we live some place where we have the opportunities we do'. Then I get back to the shop and log on here and read this crap about this 300 lb monstrous men that get paid millions of dollars per year for eating/pooping/lifting weights/playing games/exercising more/banging expensive escorts in nice hotels/good coke/top shelf booze/etc etc.... and they have it so bad they can't even stand for the flag of the country that is so rich it can support that life for what are essentially a bunch of super sized court jesters juggling for the amusement of a crowd. Disgusting. Ship every one of their pampered butts over to one of the stans or Africa or any other crap hole country for a few months and then let's see how they feel about the US

It's pretty easy for me since I've never had the time or real strong interest to be in to it, but I have no desire to ever watch another professional sport game again. As far as I'm concerned, they're just as bad as Hollywood. I realize that it's probably just a small percentage of them that get enough media to make the whole group look like douches, but if that's the case then the rest of them should start making noise against these few. They have the right to express their opinion, sure, but the rest also have the right to express the opinion that those guys are aholes because of their opinions. You want your fans back? Start policing your own.
