A worn out string will reek all kinds of havoc with your setup. If your bow was shooting fine and now its not, first make sure everything is tight and still set correctly/square, then check your string and cables. Keep in mind a trash string can still look good if its been waxed and well cared for. As mentioned, check the draw weight and draw it back and pull it against its draw stop. If it feels spongy against the stop and/or the weight is low, I'd replace the sting and cables. If you know what speed your bow was shooting a chronograph can tell you a lot. On my old bow that I was shooting last year, the string had gone to heck on it and it went from 68# to 54# and dropped from 275fps to 251, and the arrows were flying like crap.

I called and asked them that exact question a couple years ago and was told that as long as my license was good when I put in, and I had a valid one when it was time to hunt, I was fine. But by all means feel free to call them and double check. They're actually one of the better state agencies to call, you usually get through to a real life person pretty quickly.

Arizona bill that would let you shoot snakes
mattys281 replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in The Campfire
Shovels are good, as are rakes and boot heels (depending on the variety of snake). I hope they tack pigeons on to that bill, I hate feeling like an outlaw every time one of them has a sudden heart attack and falls off my roof.... -
Gnarly old buck. Great find.

Nice! Congrats on your pigs. They sure are a fun hunt.

Happy birthday. Hope it got a little more relaxing for you. Nothing like an undies-clad gunfight with a coyote to start the day off...

There was no freaking election hack. All of those emails were REAL. Even the libs do not dispute that. giving the voters more truthful information is not election hacking. CNN giving Hillary the debate questions in advance however...... I get pissed off everytime I hear that phrase. An election hack is when someone gets in the computer and messes with the result of the election. This was an email hack and press leak of said hacked emails. The dems and the media just have their panties all bunched up because they lost what they thought was an unloseable election to a candidate they thought couldnt possibly win.

Wife almost got her first deer...
mattys281 replied to CatfishKev's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
First shot on her first hunt?! Thats outstanding! Im not going to admit how many I missed before I finally connected, but tell her it happens to all of us, so no sad feelings over it. Cant dwell on a miss. Good luck to you guys. -
Is it like a fawn distress call? I've seen videos of does running for it but not with bucks. Mine is just a bleater but you can blow it like a predator call to make distress calls..... and it really pisses them off. Snorting jumping stamping their feet mad. It doesnt always work, but when it does it can be pretty exciting. And yes, its usually does that respond, but bucks will follow them in. No guarantees, but if you have no other play it might get you a shot.

I don't think we'll ever secure it, because we do nothing to cure the illness, but rather spend all our resources trying to cure the symptoms of the illness. It's like giving cough drops to someone that has pneumonia in their lungs. On the drug side of it: there's a demand here. As long as there is a market for any item, somebody will step forward to fill that demand. You have to get rid of the demand. How? Beats me. Heroin use is up something like 400% over the last 10 years, everybody is doing it now. Soccer moms & dads with middle class office jobs. It's not a problem with only the poor. People get hooked on prescription drugs and when they can't get or can't afford those they move on to the cheaper stuff. Figure out how to fix that and you're a nobel prize winner for sure. On the labor side, what power have we to fix Mexico's corruption & economy? They have to do it or it will continue to be a problem. In the mean time, we'll just keep swatting flies instead of cleaning up the poop pile they're feeding on out in the yard.

PF Changs Oolong Marinated Seabass, With Catfish!
mattys281 replied to CatfishKev's topic in Cooking Wild Foods
Well, I guess thats a lesson why you should always stereotype people, so as not to offend someone. -
Good call. Can be used for carp fish or carp deer, take your pick.

Wages should be set by supply and demand, not the government. The cheap labor flooding across the border has a lot more to do with Mexico's chit economy and crime than it does with anything that is going on in the US. We're not getting flooded by illegal Canadians are we? The US/Canada border is less secure than the Mexican border, in some spots it's nothing more than a sign nailed to a tree. If Mexicans could earn a decent living an not have to live under fear of kidnappings, murder and extortion, they'd likely state put. They cross the border now because the potential reward out weighs the risk involved. The more I think about it, the more I think we don't need a wall, we need to start throwing sanctions and tariffs at Mexico until they militarize THEIR side of the line. That country does nothing but profit off of our soft leadership, and as far as I can see they don't even give a thing back to their people. It'd be really nice to see somebody other than the American tax payer foot the bill for their own problems at least once in my lifetime, but I'm sure this won't be that instance.

Mulepacker, if you can get in close, but not quite shooting close, you should really try calling to them. I have an 8 dollar fawn bleater that I always carry arround my neck with my compass and its brought dozens of deer from over 100 to less than 30. Just make sure you're well hidden and they are not already suspicious. If they're already on to you, it wont work, but if theyre feeding or bedded and have no idea youre around, I've had them come in so fast I thought for sure I was about to get ran over. Its worth a try.
