The man does have an acute nose for money...... and hot tail.
-
Awesome buck, congrats. Those january deer are always bittersweet but now it frees you up to put in for Colorado mulies or otc blacktails in cali. Good start to a great year!

Im sure you guys hear some pretty funny/rediculous/radical ideas.
-
Casey, i couldnt argue with that a bit. Nobody deserves to be gunned down for fleeing that hellhole down south. That comment however seemed directed at everybody's opinion, not one persons specifically. I gotta tell you, I pay a lot in taxes. More than a lot of people even make. I have a right to know where it goes and to have an opinion on it. If somebody/anybody from the gov wants to tell me I shouldnt have a say in it, they can go pound sand, because its my money thats being spent. Aside from that, I have no problem with you and am sorry for my comment about a government employee. You guys have a tough job and im sure you are often handcuffed by pc bs coming from the higher ups in Washington. It has to be frustrating. Be safe out there.

Interesting. Thats also the same look the tax paying public gives a bottom rung government employee that thinks nobody else is qualified to have an opinion. Get over yourself.

I did it once at the place out in buckeye. It was fun but not terrifying like everyone thinks it will be. Really no more exciting than a fast rollercoaster.

Wow! What a woman you found. Im working on trying to get my wife more into the game, but its a slow process. Congrats to her on the fantastic first archery deer and congrats to both of you on the great family and new baby!

Man, you are getting some great pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Nice! Go put an arrow in one.

Armed people from another country crossing an international border and shooting at citizens of the other country.... is this not the very definition of an invasion? The fed needs to quit screwing around and let the military fight & win this war.

Nets are for fish, not deer. Thats a 191 inch buck. Awesome deer!

Sneaker: you are the man! Congrats on another awesome muley.
-
You had enough muleys already? We got on a nice 4x4 this am, but couldnt put anything together on him. Made two attempts to get In front of him and cut him off but both times we were too slow and ended up running right into him and his gals. He was quite the stud cruising around with 6 does all to himself. Nearest I got to him was 140 yards.

I had that vortex spotter for one trip. Image was very fuzzy around the edges and it drove me nuts, so it was returned as soon as I got home.

I've only ever drawn 2 elk tags in this state and am currently sitting on 6 points. It gets pretty tiresome, no doubt about it. The last couple years I started going on out of state hunts instead of burning valuable vacation days on crap limited-op hunts here in az. Had a great time in Nebraska in 2015 and was able to tag out, and got skunked up in Colorado in 2016, but was able to hunt in beautiful country and still had a great time. If I don't draw anything good this year I'll either head back to Nebraska or maybe over to northern cali to try for a blacktail deer. The draw isn't getting me down anymore.

+1 Love to get a look at the guy who dropped that.

You should call an ambulance right after you start first aid, then the police and finally the lawyer. Calling your lawyer first would be used against you in court. The fact that this would increase your legal fees is likely why it was suggested by your lawyer "friend" in the first place. I don't think 'friend' is the right word for someone that charges you $300/hr for their advice and the pleasure of their company. I also don't think the comment was intended to literally mean you should let someone bleed out in your kitchen while you flip through the yellow pages looking for a lawyer. The point I took away from it was that if you're in a sticky situation, you'd best keep your mouth shut until you get to talk to someone who's job it is to help you, rather than sing like a canary to someone who's job it is to arrest and/or prosecute you.

10x is a good magnification for an all around bino, but you're small on the objective lense which will give you low light glassing problems. If you decide to upgrade get something with an exit pupil of at least 4mm, preferably 5mm. You calculate the exit pupil by dividing objective lense size by power so your 10x25 are giving you an exit pupil of 2.5mm. Thats bad for gathering light. I have 10x42s that ride around my neck and love them. 10x50 would gather even more light, but I personally find them a bit bulky for neck glass. I have 2 sets of bigger glass that could go in the pack depending on where I'm going. 12x56 and 15x56. These are the tripod glass. If you have unlimited budget, you can spend as much as you like. If money is a concern, I like the nikon monarch line. I think the 10x42s are around $250ish. They are rubber armored, water proof and pretty clear for being cheaper glass. Ive been using mine forever and have no complaints. These also do great on a tripd and adapt with the standard front screw type of adapter.

There are adapters that will fit your currrent set. There are adapters that use velcro to strap them to a padded platform, some that clamp on a barrel and the most common screw in type. There is no binocular that cannot be mounted to a tripod. What kind of glass do you have?

then wait until 5:00pm when all the deer you missed start moving lol Too true....
-
As you've already been told, 22 is a solid unit with plenty of deer. When you're glassing, go slow, don't try to find a whole deer or something big. Pick the view apart, look at rocks, bushes, look at each square foot of ground and all of a sudden a deer will materialize out of no where. I glassed up a doe yesterday at 930 yards using 12x binos on a tripod. The only thing I could see of her was her head and ears sticking up out of bush. When I spotted her I went back over the area around her and found that I'd passed right over another doe that was bedded right out in the open. Early in the a.m. I glass pretty fast looking for deer that are up and moving and then try to follow them to bed, but after it's been daylight for an hour or so, a lot of them are already laying down and you have to go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay slower with your glassing. See everything on that hill before you move the binos to another spot. And when you do move them, only move them 1/2 way so you still see half of the view you were just looking at. Every time you move the binos make sure you're overlapping the previous view. All it takes is a twitch of an ear for you to spot a deer that had been perfectly motionless for several minutes, or for them to get up & stretch or grab a bite off a bush to chew on. Persistence, never give up until you are 110% certain you've seen every rock, every clump of grass and every bird/squirrel/whatever on that hillside.

Sounds like a real exciting day. Congrats to you guys.

Good size pigs. Congrats!
