Nothing.. If you got the money go for it. Some guys are cheap and some guys are big spenders. I prefer the term frugal....

Sounds like the title of a great youtube video series.

Good for you. I started going with my daughter this week in the mornings. She holds back for about the first mile but then starts pulling away. Good for her, but I aint happy about my deterioration.

Some of those roads are pretty choppy, you better make sure you put your beer in one of those thick foam koozy things to keep it from splashing out the top.

Never thought I would be the first

Great tag. congrats & good luck! -
Smart man. They haven't came out with one yet that will make deer deader than you Vectrix does.

There's a lot of deer that hang out (and are shot) in those big meadows right off the hwy headed down towards the park. But be forewarned, it'll look too easy during your scouting trips, then about a week or two before season opens all available camp spots will fill up and if you hunt around there you'll have loooooots of company. I've only hunted there once and did not tag out. I had an opportunity at a little one the first night and let him walk, didn't get another shot opportunity for the rest of the week we were up there. that having been said, there is a lot of nice mulies up there and that area is beautiful, one of the pretties places in Az. Also lots of turkeys, so bring a tag for those as well.

Welcome to the site.

Great pet. My kids had a couple when they were smaller. Good luck with your sale!

I think some of your numbers are a little light. Also, there's a 50/50 chance that I may hunt with my longbow this summer, so there's about a 15% chance that there's guaranteed to be at least 1 longbow/recurve kill thread.

I've been shooting the same compound since '09. I bought a new one about 3 years ago, and quickly got rid of it again. turned out I still liked my old one better.

Yeah, they're more than a little crazy with it. PSE has some pretty nice models for cheaper than that and there's still Bear and Bowtech's Diamond line. Cabelas & Basspro have some decent shooters too with their store name on it, most of which I think are also made be Bowtech/Diamond.

Times like this you have to thank God that our forefathers had the vision and the pure genius to set up a government with such checks and balances. Think about it, what did Obama really accomplish? Immigration reform..... no, that was blocked over & over again. Gun control.... no, that hasn't flown, in spite of the overtly leaning media coverage. Affordable health care? Kinda on that one, but about 70% of his bill is still blocked and tied up in courts. The only thing he's really done in 8 years is crank up racial tensions and make lazy dumb-arse people resent their bosses and the companies that feed them. i.e., he's fed the stupidity of the slothful. Clinton will be the same. She'll accomplish nothing and blame congress for it all, which won't entirely be untrue, as they'll be blocking her every chance they get. Nothing good is going to come of her term, but she will not be the end of our country. This country is ran by bankers and people with money, not by politicians. Politicians are just the puppets on the strings. Do you really think the rich & powerful will let some screeching corrupt harpie from Arkansas topple their money machine? Ha! Yeah right! And after that, I'll win the nobel peace prize for my significant contributions to witty interweb hunting forum commentary. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. But don't expect a whole lot to change on Jan 20, 2017. The dow will jump 500 points one way or the other as people over react, but for Main St. Americans life will go on just as it always has.

Wow! What a great experience. Good for you!

I've used the silly "baaa" a ton of times to successfully stop a deer and have it shot successfully by myself or others I am hunting with. Sometimes it's the only way to get a deer to stop in a shooting lane before it disappears into a jungle of brush. I havent had it screw me up yet. Just saying. It's worked for me too. I won't use it when deer are close, but a couple years ago I stopped one at 65 yards..... and then missed.

Spot and stalk or hunt from a blind?
mattys281 replied to Murph24's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
You can always do both. Try glassing through the morning & if you haven't found anything you like by early afternoon, find a nice trail to sit on for the evening. I personally think you have much higher odds of killing by hunting ambushes, but you'll see more deer with your binoculars & tripod. -
I've played around with a sngle pin slider on one of my bows. For punching paper, I love it. Really a lot easier to aim with a small sight ring and just one pin. I just get too dang excited when its time to shoot at something with fur on it, I know id forget to move it or stick it in the wrong spot.

I think its a really good idead setting yourself and your kiddos all up the same. If you allready shot the edge and like it, I cant see any benefit to spending days or weeks shopping around. These are fine bows and while there are many that are more expensive, you'll never find one that makes deer deader or punches holes in a target any differently. Get your gear rounded up and take those little ones to a 3d shoot. If they like shooting archery, they'll have the time of their lives at one of those.

Exactly why I wont use one. Just another opportunity for error and/or malfunction. I know some people love them, hit not for me. The simpler the better.
-
Yeah, between the bears and the elk, its hard to keep one without snot marks or chew marks on it.

In addition to this I'd also say that I'd rather shoot at a deer that is 40+ yards than one that is less than 30. 2nd deer I ever killed was at 78 yards, and he stood right there & watched me slip off my backpack, put an arrow on the string, range him, think it over for a couple seconds, range him again, draw, aim shoot & the last thing he saw was that arrow drop out of the sky and smoke him. Never moved a muscle until he was hit. More recently, my last coues was at about 37 yards and he was looking in my direction (but not at me) with his ears forward alert. Didn't even flinch until he got hit. Deer seem to have a instant flight zone, that if you're inside it and make a mistake they just bolt without a second thought, but if you're outside it, they don't seem to be as threatened. I think that zone is around the 35-40 yard mark. You can get away with a lot more mistakes with just a few extra yards of range.

i bought one of these for my wife last year from Cabela's. It's a pretty sweet rig for the money and came complete with sights, rest, stabilizer & quiver. Only think we had to do was buy some arrows for it and put everything together. Recently, while looking for an upgraded bow for my daughter I came across the PSE Stinger. Has some pretty good reviews and I'm a big fan of single-cam bows anyway. You can find these brand new on ebay for less than what the website lists them at. Good luck and welcome to a life long addiction! http://pse-archery.com/shop/mainline-compound-bows/stinger-x-2016/
