You raise an excellent point. I don't worry about draw odds as I never rifle hunt, so really didn't even think of it that way.

Im in the same boat, never really got why people refuse to share a unit. I mostly hunt 27 in the summer and 24b or 33 in the winter. If someone can find my treestand/ground blind from that, they're a pretty impressive detective. ... and they have way too much free time on their hands.

Need help with November muzzleloader unit 33. PLEASE
mattys281 replied to Bowmadness's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
+1 I dont know the south half of the unit that well, but theres plenty of good country in the north side. Lots of deer, and like you said yourself: glass! Good luck! -
I have a friend that may be interested. I'll show him pics when you post them.

Man, you guys are making me green with all these 6x6's hitting the dirt! Hopefully next year.... Congrats on an awesome bull!!!

Post of the year, right here.

That's for sure. They get big by being invisible!

"God Gave Us Nails" - A January Spot and Stalk Coues Deer Story
mattys281 replied to Tunachaser's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Lol! You guys are out of control! This kid loves Jesus and he loves bowhunting, nothing wrong with that. Congrats on an awesome buck, Tunachaser. I don't see any punishment in those pictures, it's all reward. -
Awesome bull! Congrats! I recognize the logo on that ball cap, you're from DIYbowhunter.com, right?
-
And make sure they're all watermarked, we dont want any illegal download shenanigans or skullduggery.

For what its worth, a lot of rifle guys would let your deer walk if they were archery hunting, but had a rifle tag for later on, in hopes of a bigger one. I dont know very many bowhunters that would let those walk though. I've shot several with my bow and I would take them.

Theres some nice juniper country south of hwy 169 close to the junction with 69 and also some nice areas off of 169 closer to the 17. Used to do some fourwheeling out there when I was a kid but havent been up there in ages. Its open enough you should be able to shoot and sight in. If you want developed camp grounds theres a few off of walker rd on the edge of prescott, but thats unit 20a I think, and not good for shooting.

19a or 19b?

Great video! Looks kinda young to me, you guys think he's still on the upswing or is he topped out there?

I got a visual of will Ferrell doing his impersonation: "ya mean .270? I dont like the 7mm/08 either... its now a part of the axis of evil. Along with germany, japan, the economy..... and one of those koreas...."

Cookie isnt it? What a strangely provactive way to draw attention to a large bull.... But a cookie does sound good. Better send the mrs. to the store.

Congrats! Awesome trophy!

I'd drop either one first change I got, but that's just me. They're definitely off to a good start and will be good bucks if they can make it another year or two.
-
Congrats! Awesome bull!

Yeah, I learned that one the hard way! Even in the pines, I'm always hiking in to my treestand with my hand in front of my face to knock down spider webs. Even after I wipe them off, I'm still sure I can feel the builder climbing up my neck or in my ear or something.

Congrats on your elk! It is an awesome hunt!

I called a couple in the last time I had a tag. Worked out well for me, I was hunting alone and they were in a group with a comfy campsite, mess hall canvas tent and a couple propane bbq's. I ended up getting a good taco dinner, a couple bud lights and some tips on the area from guys thatd been hunting it for more than 20 years. Beat the heck out of eating a mountain house meal alone. I dont mind calling in that kind of hunter.

I always use a head lamp. I figure its better to risk spooking something than to try and pack it out with a busted neck, leg or bum.

My personal opinion is that hunting is the common thread that binds us all together, but ouside of that we have vastly different jobs, financial levels, education levels, political views, etc. I like to hear what other hunters think on economics and politics. Thats me. The bottom line is this is amanda's business, and she doesnt HAVE to allow anyone here, so everyone that patronizes her business should respect her rules. Since she suggested to take it elsewhere, I would refer you to the hunting site in my sig line. Its very small and very loosely moderated to say the least. But beware: bring your thick skin!
