Tuff Hunt so far (22)** Hunt update** with a few pics**

Good luck, I hope they pick up for you. That's rough when they're quite and it's to wet to sit on wallows. -
Have a project I'm working on that requires some sheet metal cooling fins to be welded to a connector tube that I'm machining. The fins are .035 sheet metal 304ss formed in "U" shape that is about 3/4" tall and about 1/4" wide at the bottom of the channel. I can email pictures to someone who is interested in the job, but don't want to disclose them online. My normal welder has looked at it and says that I need somebody with a spot welding machine, he cant do it with what he has. If someone knows a company that does this type of work, I'd appreciate a tip. This is commercial work, so I'd rather avoid the normal aerospace guys I'm used to dealing with as they take too long and are usually much more expensive. Thanks. Matt

A few things that will get you a smackdown from CWT.com, discussing islam, ex-spouses or Brokeback Mountain stunt doubles... Soooo.... bringing up your muslim exwife that left you for another woman... offlimits? Id like to hear about it by pm if thats ok. Durka, durka, whats under that burka??? Note: HEAVLY edited... Yeah I bet it is. I have a great pic at work of "the worlds best muslim", but Im not posting it here. Id need emails to forward that gem out. -
It really is a hard one to call. On one hand I'm sure tired of this pussified world we live in where there really aren't that many men left, mostly just a bunch crying women with testicles... But on the other hand, like it or not, this is the world we live in and image matters, especially with social media, twitter or twatter or whatever, facebook etc. Look at what happened to that friggin dentist through social media. Anti hunters are going to hate us no matter what, so screw them. It's the nuetral nonhunters that concern me. I'd like to see them either stay neutral or, better yet, come to our side. Hate to see them be put off hunters by something they may view as a gruesome display. I'm with the keep it covered side on this one. edit: but I would love to pull up next to this guy at the gas station and talk to him. Great bull!

As the weather starts to cool off we all head back outside make sure you check around your patio furniture and up under the arm rests, between the cushions, handles on the ole bbq, etc, etc. My stuff got a little dusty with the storms and what not over the last couple weeks so I was cleaning it off this evening. After I finished one of the chairs I grabbed my two year old baby girl off the love seat and lifted off the cushions to clean them and right there between the cushions was a big fat black widow, probably a good 1/2" around. Had herself a nice little nest in there. There's not enough of her left now to mount, but she was trophy caliber. I've sprayed around the house several times this year already, but they don't seem to stay away long. Anyhow, it was close enough to my kid to rattle me a little, so thought I'd throw a reminder out to everyone. Check out your furniture and make sure you don't have any wiggly things hanging around before you let the kids out there to start playing again.

Best of luck to you and welcome to the site.

$59. I'll be getting one of the deer ones, just not sure if muley doe or coues buck. That coues buck may intimidate smaller bucks, so probably stick with the doe one.
-
Thats what I was told about scorpions. Theyre under ground and there's no getting rid of them, at least not permanently.
-
My hous is new also, we just moved in a year ago. There was black widows on it before we even had the keys! I think its left over critters from all the farm fields the turned into housing developments on the west side of town. Havent seen any scorpions yet, but los ded with crickets and spiders. Im tired of spraying all the time, I think im gonna call the pest guy and just tell him to use the strongest crap he has that wont kill a dog. Or at least wont kill a big dog. I dont have a small one and it wouldn't hurt my feelings if the neighbors midnight yapper suffered an unfortunate accident.

Nice looking 4x4. Hard to get much closer than that isn't it? Congrats!

Great write up josh. Bears are by far my favorite animal to see. Ive been lucky enough to have some pretty close encounters with them over the years but none that resulted in a filled tag. Good job on staying after it as long as you did. Its gut wrenching to lose an animal, but sometimes it does happen and all we're left with is a learning experience.

Thats a real crappy situation. Sorry to hear about it. Have you had any luck finding the thief or getting your stuff back yet? I hope it turns up.

Congrats on an awesome bull!

I was up there in august last year for the archery hunt and then again for the doe hunt with my daughter in nov. Got skunked on both. Saw tons of deer in the early season and passed on a smaller buck, but didnt get an opportunity at a biggin. In november we were only able to hunt two days and we never even saw one. I think we were hunting up too high for that late in the year. Id make sure you are up there at least the two weekends prior to your hunt to look for them. The deer on the bab are definitely migratory and at some point they bunch up into bigger herds and move down off the platue to the lower stuff. Areas where we had deer crawling all over us in august were completely empty in nov. That was the on only time ive hunted it so far and we were pretty unprepared, even with having made two scouting trips ahead of time. Scout as close to your season as possible and good luck to you!

Crying about wolves again

There was some people that lived in the forest south of Williams that used to have buffalo on their property years ago. I have no idea if they still keep them now or not. -
That's pretty incredible! I'm not much of a predator caller, seems like every time I try all I doe is call in crows and the occasional deer. Sounds like some good work to me if you fooled all three. Congrats to him!

Brandon: You're obviously a very busy man and I appreciate you taking the time to kill some of the speculation and give us your personal perspective on this amazing animal. I'm curious if you've taken any of these other big coues deer bowhunting? I don't ask to instigate or be an elitist, or a hater or whatever, I'm genuinely curious. I think the level of financial success you've reach shows that you like to set goals and then succeed at them, and you're certainly not afraid of a challenge. I myself have lived a pretty exciting life. I've climbed onto about 130 bulls, and fallen off of most. I've roadraced motorcycles ( and also fallen off of those... more than once!). I can tell you honestly, I don't think I've ever done anything as exciting as drawing back my bow on a deer. Even a small one at that close range will make your hear jump out of your chest. When you buy the next tag, any chance we're going to see you put an arrow through it? I think that once you feel that rush you may be hooked for life. Congrats on an amazing animal.
