  1. I've had a rough year for trail cams.  A couple found new homes and the ones that made it just didn't turn up anything real great.  Got some decent ones, but nothing that makes your jaw drop.  Guess that's why it's fun, never know what you'll find or where you'll find it.  Maybe next year!

  2. I'm on the fence.  I'd like to try the meat once, and if I don't care for it I won't kill another.  I could've killed that little one, but I aint into killing bears that are too small to even make a hand towel out of.

  3. Been a great year for seeing them.  Between my buddy & I, I think we saw some where in the 8-10 range between scouting & hunting this year.  Saw a lot of cubs this year too, including 2 without their mothers.  I already posted the video of one that we saw in scouting, but then opening day of archery deer I had this guy under my treestand:

  4. Worth a call to the forest service to ask.  I've heard that they have some kind of protection, but if you didn't damage the cactus, I can't see it being a problem.  The big ones are tough as heck and quite sturdy.  They'd support a ladder stand, just probably need some carpeting or something to protect the cactus from the strap or chain.

  5. Our G&F regs have a ton of good info on success rate & draw odds for draw tags which can help you nail down what unit to put in for, and the G&F website has great starter points listed unit by unit.

Seems like everybody has their own favorite unit, but the truth is there are a ton of units that have great access and excellent trophy potential.

Good luck on your deer slam, I only need the two blacktail species to finish mine.

I did the eye hand test with him earlier tonight and both times he answered showing left eye dominant.

I shoot pistol with both eyes open, and plan to teach him to shoot pistol that way. Rifles is different though. I am thinking I should teach him to shoot left, but all my hardware is setup for right handers.

Get him an eye patch to cover his left eye while shooting until he's old enough to just close it.  I bought one for myself years ago to use while glassing with a spotting scope.  About $3 at wal-mart, easy peasy.
