I know that I saw recruitment levels that were off the charts and land that looked like the Emerald Isle during some of the warmest summer temps I have experienced while scouting the herds. I also know that harvest levels were low based on witnessed accounts and hearsay from fill-in game managers. The extra week on the bull hunt plays a huge roll in prospective weather conditions. A lot of of the halfway guys are going to skip hunting and drive the circuit. Plays right into my hands. Did I mention that I LOVE late bull hunts? Sucks donkey genitalia that I can't use a couple of paid days off as previously mentioned.

With smaller fish, Aka specials has an amazing approach. If you are doing the foil pack- steam method and can't pull the spine, cook longer. Just like slow cooking red meat, you have to break the connective tissues down. If the bones don't pull free, tissues have not been rendered. I used Cactusjack's honey and some red pepper flakes in place of the brown sugar in the brine and had amazing results with some Dolores River beauties earlier this fall. All I had was pecan for the smoker, but the leftovers I was hoping for were non-existent. Bones pulled as a whole skeleton after severing the head (I ate the tiny cheek meat).

Really? That gos against everything I was ever told. I always heard you should never take a leak anywhere near where your hunting. Have you ever hung a cam on one you went on? Any reaction at all from the deer? This has me pretty curious. I let the air out of a cow elk one time when she stopped to smell my puddle.

+1 on these. They really only shine on pulling the pin bones from bigger filets though. They work a lot better than needlenose pliers.
