New 7mm Rem Mag Load Development
Allforelk replied to lancetkenyon's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Love your work gentlemen. -
I agree. I have had to run this mission with quail guts during hot Octobers, I used the dumpster behind a large Asian Market. Trust me, nobody noticed.

Which nonlead 180 grain load for .30-06?
Allforelk replied to Heat's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I have been shooting 180 grain Failsafes for years, but my supply will eventually run out. I also see the handwriting on the wall concerning lead projectiles. I developed a load for my .06 with 4831sc and 180 grain E Tips. My gun loves them. I have witnessed the effect on two mature bull elk and they do amazing work on vitals. One bull shot at 83 yards and the other at 504 yards. Both were pass throughs. -
Sounds like Tesla needs an SUV in the lineup.

Arrow speed and long range shooting
Allforelk replied to Pac8541's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
This thread has been interesting and informative. I came across a decent article delving into a bit of this. I enjoyed the math and physics behind the experiment. Hope you enjoy as well. https://www.google.com/url?q=http://archeryreport.com/2011/01/heavy-vs-light-arrows-speed-power/&sa=U&ved=0ahUKEwj85cvByIzNAhUUW2MKHYURApAQFggbMAA&sig2=AhYXRh2mZN1dK7WYMS1X1A&usg=AFQjCNFVQdrPidpMmchN8Ix8D6QQXaB90A -

Meteors tend to come in hard and fast. I have seen test footage of short range weapons throw up a similar trail when guidance systems go haywire. I will be up tomorrow with coffee waiting. -
Sorry for derailing the thread. Thanks for all the info. Looks like I'm buying a bear tag.

I've had the opportunity to eat quite a few critters on this planet but have never tried bear. Is it any good?

That elk was acting as a park ambassador and demonstrating the minimum distance boundary for a group of tourists.

I can't stop watching this. The camera man needs a nut punch for robbing us of the impact footage.
-
That footage is impressive. I've had them buzz me while enjoying a late night cocktail on the back patio and you never hear them until they're hooting in my trees.
-
I love the pic of the bull squaring off with the steer. Doesn't look like he's giving up any weight in that scrap.
-
Sounds like campfire snacks for the recovery mission.
-
I will be trying this with some elk chorizo this week.

Caught my first trout on a fly in that stretch in the early 80's. Still a magical place for me.
-
Beautiful pictures. Thank you.

Anyone else wondering why he was holding the range finder?

Hahahahaha, Bangkok.

Didn't work out for us this week. We weren't able to get up there. Looking at Tues/Wed of next week.
-
Trphyhntr, I will give you a dedicated weekend if your guide can guarantee we don't have to walk more than 50 yds off the road for this "slay and flay" operation.

I drew Antelope in unit 10 in 2013 with 0 bonus points.

I was throwing up drywall in my new utility room yesterday and listened to the Sheep unit podcast. They were talking about a girl that drew 15D with 1 or 2 bonus points.

My best Smallmouth to date came out of that river. I used to do a 4 day trip every year and would switch to my fly rod every other day to give the webbing between my fingers a break from my spinning reel. Only saw one other camp in all those trips. Pretty sure .270 has a good bear story on those waters if I remember correctly.

Are they even bringing bales over any more? Seems like the reports are saying there is more green stuff heading into Mexico these days.
