Where I’ve been, haven’t seen any more activity than usual. Kind of shocked considering all the hype. -
Eberlestock j34 just one. Been the best all around pack for me.

Yeah next year he’ll be just a regular ol bull. Poor bastard was left kinda defenseless to finish out the rut this year! Guess it would be hard to not come up with some kind of excuse why not to cut off his antlers while he was out!😂

Unit 27 Late Oct Hunt
Sky Island junkie replied to AzRaised08's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Congrats to you guys on harvesting one out of a pretty tough unit! True team effort, that meat is going to taste great! Welcome to the addiction!!!! -
These bright nights will keep getting darker as your hunt approaches so should be more active by Friday. I’ve been watching a group of bucks for a guy who has that hunt and they were somewhat predictable until this moon then yep they crawled into their underground air conditioned condos!

Cool old buck! Congrats! -
I’ve heard that leg injuries can cause antler weirdness. I killed a buck once that had a big knot the size of a tennis ball on his lower front leg. I packed that leg out with me and at camp cut into it and found that the bone had been broken and healed and the bone had grown heavier around the past break. The cool thing was between the bone and the skin was a large capsule with a half dozen shards of broken bone. Both antlers were fairly normal. I’m so amazed at how resilient animals are!

Struck me funny reading the end of your post. Made me remember tanking up yesterday. Gonna have to start carrying the little stickies with me!

It’s possible he identified as a cow and a bull got rough with him?😳

Guided Mexico Coues Hunt, how big of a buck should you holdout for?
Sky Island junkie replied to DonkeyMan's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
A customer a while back showed me a pic of an old muley buck he’d gotten that year. Both ears were split, one probably 6”. He said I was giving him the same look the taxidermist gave him when he said he wanted the ears fixed! 😂 -
Congrats to the hunter for killing a bull with such character! Tough booger’s!!

Had one come in to a fawn in distress couple years ago

Man I remember when I thought I was KVD if I had a day like that then I got spoiled! Not sure if a good thing or bad?! -

Different story if paying for $2000 guided package I guess -

If you’re fine hunting down 10 a day vs 150. Apples and oranges I have way less $ invested per Mexican largemouth than US largemouth -
I thought the same. Before the rains hit I did wonder how many pregnancies may had not taken because of the drought but by August and September I was pleased to see at least an average fawn drop, at least in the areas I frequent

Had a side x side come through a water gap in wash onto our property during archery season. I followed the tracks for a couple hundred yards. They jumped out of the wash no fewer than a dozen times to drive all over the hills and then back into the wash. It was that evening that I saw the buck they were after. His front leg was trashed and there was no indication that anyone got out of the atv to do any walking! If anyone thinks that landowner/rancher/sportsman relations are going to get any better with this kind of behavior, not gonna happen! Things will get worse, more lands will be closed up! Can’t say I blame any lease holder that blocks access to hunters onto public lands if they have to deal with too much of that crap!

I don’t even try to get them all out. Wife won’t let me wash hunting clothes with the rest. The worst for me are the little black needle like stickers in socks. Fugetaboutit!

Glad to hear! Was up there a few years ago and prior to that had not been in there for about 15 years. I could not believe how many roads had been made in that time! Pretty sad
