I do think that many don’t think of the repercussions if you do kill or wound someone especially outside when it may or may not be self defense. What shook me up a bit was when I read a story of a guy who shot an unarmed douche who broke into his house. No criminal charges but the family of the intruder sued him civilly. Dont remember the specifics but the whole ordeal but it cut deeply into his net worth defending himself. Scary stuff all the way around

Well the day they were looking for the guy in our area I actually had to go find him because BPs dogs couldn’t pick up his scent! (Thats a whole other level of absurdity) I simply walked out 100 yards and found the guy in the grass under a mesquite and of course shaking i brandished the 45. There were 3 agencies and probably 50 guys looking for him and nobody with BP, DPS or Cochise county ever even wanted to look at any of my guns. Honestly they all probably didn’t want to deal with me much at that point. It was a true case of just a bunch of Barney Fifes out here sadly!

The way all this Tacticool crap is marketed to us is hilarious. We had a manhunt in our area a dozen years ago and as luck would have it the meth head wound up on our patio. As he tried our front, back doors and various windows there was no working of actions. My wife stood there with my 870 wingmaster loaded with #6 shot and me with my 45 if the poor bastard were to make it in. The little stubby shotshells crack me up. Who thinks about recoil in a situation like this? Just my opinion

I’d have that thing ripped to shreds the first day of its first hunt

Now that’s old school! Every time I see a bolo tie I think of Bill Close doing the news in the 70s.

Salt river above Roosevelt question

Stayed at Windy Hill 3 nights last week and I’m assuming maintenance is done in house. Saw 4-5 green people huddled under one of the ramadas one afternoon BSing. Campgrounds were well taken care of but yeah they probably don’t venture far from the shade this time of year. -
Yeah you’re right! Criminals in Mexico don’t have the rights they do here, especially pedophiles. IF they make it to prison, they don’t make it long from what I’ve heard

Yep the last 10 years I lived in the valley I went back and forth between whichever one of those is the Wickenburg station and KDKB. Mostly KDKB. I’m pretty much a country fried rocker I guess -

Great song! I guess since we’re sharing, my wife and my song. Not one of the biggies but a great singer. -

I laughed at Jelly Roll when he first started in the country genre but he’s honestly grown on me as well as a few others but guys like Straight, Haggard, Jennings, Diffie etc. are the real deal! Sirius radio is a must for us GenXers/Boomers! -

Yeah that’s an older song. Unfortunately the country stations don’t really play as much of the “real” country anymore! Sucks! We had a country station in Benson that for over 25 years played real country music but then got bought out and now it’s the same ol thing. Whatever brings the money! I like Toby’s version! I also had never heard it -
Agreed. Before too long getting ANY wt tag will be a dream hunt! Been 22 years since I’ve hunted Az elk and 14 for antelope. I guess those two are my dream hunts for now

I think the taco leafs sit pretty flat. At least my 05 does and they are pretty new. Dealer replaced a couple years ago because one leaf on driver side cracked and I found out there was a recall. Not sure about your generation of taco though?

On your primitive made weapons comment- I was thinking the same thing a couple weeks ago when I found a perfect arrowhead. I sat there with it in my hand and thought how freakin soft are we!! Probably why it’s rare that I kill during the archery season. I’ve always got my eyes to the ground! But that was a successful day for sure!

Sorry to hear. Always a sad day when you lose a part of your family!

Commission looking into closing State Trust Land
Sky Island junkie replied to cactusjack's topic in The Campfire
I’m sure this just applies to recreational such as hunting, atv travel etc. and not cattle grazing which is their main source of revenue, which is a pittance. I think I read somewhere that none of our tax money goes to state trust land? I could be mistaken though. Man that’ll be a hard pill to swallow! -
