I feel your pain, we load up 15 55 gal drums of Clean alum millings once a month and our son who saves cans gets more than we do per lbs. Solids get us a bit more though Dont remember the exact amount per lb. We use barry metals on the west side cause they pick up (not cans just our machine shop crap.) Anymore its not worth saving alum if you consider storage space for 15-20 55 gal drums.

.223 is good but you will want to run med loads if you reloaded and bullets that dont expand, nosler used to make partitions for the .224 dia stuff, I used them on my 22-250. believe it or not berger target hollow points work fantastic as the don't grenade on impact you do have to hit them in the right spot though

Nope kids loose interest in not getting something on the wall Like DAD or Dads friends have. youth hunts should have bulls and cows mixed just like deer hunts. If they wanted to go grocery shopping they would hang with mom at the store. Same deal with bass fishermen theres kids wanna be like Dad seen too many kids loose interest over the years because there fathers would go out with the buddies bass fishing 3-5 times a week then once every 2 months take there kids out for BLUEGILL.

There is NO difference between cows and bulls. put him on a separate tag he will have a better chance of getting drawn, also if you get drawn you can sing your tag over to him. so basically he gets 2 chance to get drawn. My daughter started shooting competition archery when she was like 9 maybe 10 targets not 3d. she started hunting with a bow when she was 9. at 10 she was archery deer hunting , she had early archery bull elk tags 3 years in a row 2 I signed over to her one she drew. when you have kids, your top priority should be them! sign your tag over to them. They grow up to fast and then there gone. I signed tags (4 or 5 elk tags early rifle and early archery, 1 lope tag and a couple north rim deer tags) to my kids for the last 18 years. Now I get to hunt as the kids are all grown up so now its all about me. before the transferring of tags was legal I let them pull a trigger or 2 on a few deer tags. that all being said do it if and only if the kid wants to hunt , dont force them at all as they will stop immediately and never have a interest.

Never said they were . They have there flaws like alot of companies. Mil spec standards are all we have. we meaning the machining/manufacturing industry. I am assuming you dont know what mil spec means it has nothing to do with guns and its not a size or tolorance. everything to do with standard practices and procedures. There is NO other general standard as no one makes such a thing. some companies have there own standard but generally reference Mil standards. The rest of them just have someone make the part to there blue print and wonder why it doesn't fit with a mating part. if more commercial , medical companies would reference mil specs in there blue prints it would save a ton of time and a ton of scrap parts, kinda of a waste of time when you have to call a company and ask for max fillet and edge breaks, roundness , and run out info. then wait 2 days for there engineer to get back a hold of you and go ummmmmmm I have no clue we were never asked that question before. you explain it to him and then he goes oh thats why the parts dont mate perfectly flat. now I understand and we have to force them or touch them up at our shop.

Never had a VDL blow up but had them Not open going straight thru a lope in a 6mm Remington took my daughter good hits to put that lope down, last shot was a running away shot at about 300 yards she hit it right below the butt and it came out the throat. tried them on yotes after that and didnt make what range they went straight thru. yotes just spin circle biting the wound then haul butt like they were never hit.

A hunters education course wont matter for most hunters, you cant teach ethics as its un teachable, its something you learn from the people who taught you to hunt or you hunt with. Not to mention everyone's ethics are different. I dont expect everyone to hunt like I do or act like I do, nor do I expect some SOB telling me whats right and whats wrong. As long as I am not breaking the law I can do anything I want wether someone likes it or not. . I got my 1st hunters ed class in bremerton Washington in 77. I learned to hunt in Japan and while I wasn't allowed to handle a weapon off base or allowed to hunt off base( I still did hunt in japan since I was 7 or 8 till 15. My Father had to take there required coarse in order to hunt in Japan a few times. which I still have his org books from the mid 60's. japan was extremely strict even for the Japanese. one screw up and you lost your hunting privileges for 10 years to life, pay huge fines and were humiliated so to speak ie being shunned not only by other hunters but family and friends.. and it doesn't make any difference what the screw up was or how small it was. But yet still alot of people got into trouble and lost there hunting privileges. Lot of HONOR in Japan and Dignity, Respect and another word I am looking for but cant think of it. here in the states its what loop hole we can find to our personal satisfaction. My Father was one of less than a dozen people in Japan that could hunt with a center fire rifle because he was Grand fathered in around 65. when they had bear problems or wild boar problems they would call my Father to take care of the problem. Even the local cops didn't have center fire weapons so they would hook up with my father or the other dozen people and take them out to where the problem was.

The chips didnt happen from the cnc process, it more than likely happened after they were put together and there was some chips on the shipping bench that fell in. heres why parts are machined, then tumbled or blasted, then cleaned, then inspetion then goto plating, then goto assembly many procees's after the cnc process. depending on what the chips looked like. when you have a production job going its hard to cut corners as one puts it because everything is working perfectly for years to begin with. Actually there isnt, there is a bunch of f'n hacks out there making Junk wannabe ars. Colts Quality and a FEW others is dang good. Colt followed the Military Specs like a FEW others do. There Quality control like a FEW others is top notch per Military specs. When you start changing sizes and dimensions different materials parts wont fit with other parts of the same type of weapon causing Jams, mags not fitting bolt failure etc etc. Ive seen it all with aftermarket JUNK and there is a reason for it. NO Quality Control using the cheapest material to make a buck cause some fool will buy them if its cheap enough when a gun craze is going on. Sure the some of the other Manufactures work and may look nicer , a few improved modifications but there working off a modified version that they tested. But COLT and the Handful of others that are working to Military specs are making good parts and firearms To SPEC as required via the Military.

270 is a good choice for all around. also wood stock as the absorb recoil alot better than composite stocks
